Is there just one God? . . . Who is God? . . . What is God like? . . .
Does God love me? . . . Can I know God? Our kids grapple with questions like these every day. At Mystery Island, we’ll uncover the truth about our Creator God! There’s a sea of confusion about who God is and what He’s like, so we’ll track down the one true God and learn how amazing He is through the pages of Scripture.
Mystery Island VBS is packed with teaching that connects the Bible to the real world and gives kids a better understanding of our awe-inspiring Creator and the salvation He offers through Jesus Christ.
Each day, kids will learn more about one of God’s amazing attributes (great, almighty, ruler, Emmanuel, trustworthy) and how that applies to their lives.
Come be a part of our VBS Team! Someone on our Children’s Com-mittee may be calling you soon to ask if you will help with VBS. What will you say?
Vacation Bible School May 31 - June 4 6:00 - 8:15 PM K4 - 5th Grade
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
IN AWESOME WONDER
One of the groups I am privileged to lead and be a part of is the FBC Student Praise Band. Just like many of you, I
greatly enjoy worshipping our great God through music. And for me, if the opportunity arises, I am grateful to be one of the musicians playing the worship music. The FBC Student Praise Band consists of 8
th, 9
th, and 10
th
graders. Playing instruments and singing before their peers is quite the pressure, but to do it with proficiency and for the glory of God is on another level. I am grateful for them and hope that others are too. Also, let me note that they are each practicing and learning their musical crafts on their own. I am not the instructor, just a manager of sorts. And this is not my burden to carry alone. Shane Ross joins me and brings years of musical experience and knowledge to these students. The fact that he can play multiple instruments is a blessing for these students and our church. They meet with Shane and me weekly to pray, practice and have our own time of worship. Each week, a student band member is responsible for helping to choose the songs which has led to the introduction of new songs to the band and to the student ministry. Because of this responsibility, a song by “Newsong” was introduced to the band titled “Greatness of Our God.” The chorus includes this truthful declaration:
In awesome wonder, He reigns forever We know the greatness of our God His pow'r is endless, He lives within us The greatness of our God
As I intently read through the song, I remembered reading a verse in Psalms that mirrored the truth of these lyrics. I went to my journal and began looking over my Scripture entries. In reading through the Psalms, my journal entry the week before was from Psalm 70:4 (NKJV):
Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”
I am grateful for His orchestration in the reading of this Scripture and the introduction of this song into my life to highlight His greatness. It is a timely reminder given the events that are happening locally and globally. I pray daily for God’s greatness to be seen in the lives of students. And I am reminded of the sovereignty of God that this song was brought to my attention by a student at the same time I read this Scripture verse. I am thankful to God for this student band, willing to declare the greatness of God through music before their peers. Let God be magnified! Joel Tucker

These emails would be inspirational and encour-aging in nature. He would like to send emails to as many church members as possible. If the church office does not have your email address or you need to update it, would you please call the church office at 693-3220, or email Carlando at: [email protected]?
