    Climate

    Xi'an has a temperate,semi-arid climateinfluenced by the East

    Asian monsoon. Snow israre but even more

    rarely stays. Dust stormsoften occur duringMarch and April as the

    city rapidly warms up.Summer months also

    experience frequent butshort thunderstorms.

    residents.

    y Currently there are major construction works alongChang-An street for the first metro system in Xi'an, to becompleted by 2020.

    y Work started on the 2nd route in 2007, and is predicted tobe finished in 2011. The 1st route has started in early 2009.

    y There are 6 passenger transport railway stations inXi'an, and Xi'an Railway Station is one of the eightmajor national railway stations.

    y Xi'an Railway Station covers 5970 square miles, has 5passenger platforms, and 24 tracks. It provides servicesto 80 thousand people daily

    Expressways

    Xi'an has two ring road systems, the Second Ring road andthe Third Ring road which encircle the city. Ring roads aresimilar to freeways, but they have lights.

    y Xi'an has built expressways to Lintong, Tongchuan andBaoji. Since its construction in September 2007, the Xi-HanExpressway connects Han Zhong and Xi'an through theQinling Mountains. At 15 kilometers long the Zhongnan

    ShanTunnel is the longest tunnel in AsiA.

    Airporty Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is the is the largest

    airport in the northwestern part of China. Chang'an (theold name of the city ) Airlines and China Eastern Airlinesare the main airlines using the airport.

    y Germany's Fraport, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, haspaid 490 million yuan to obtain a 24.5-percent stake in theXianyang International Airport, offering opportunities to

    upgrade and expand the facility.
