Outdoor Water Park Hours
The Outdoor Water Park features a shallow water beach entry, a lazy
river and two water slides. Patrons must be 48” tall to ride the tall
water slides, and children under 8 must be within arm’s reach of an
adult at all times.

Hollywood Aquatic Center offers a great place to celebrate your next birthday, family reunion or special event. There
are many ways to celebrate! Both the indoor pool and outdoor water park are available for private rentals and we also
have a fantastic, private room or shaded picnic area that can be reserved.

registration. Please see the dates below.

Water Introduction 6 mo. – 3 yrs. old 30 minute classes Required skills to enter class: ability to enter water and have fun.
Class set-up: Accompanied by a parent/guardian in shallow water. Adults & children participate in guided classes
together. Children MUST have an adult in the class with them. 10 parent/child pairs per instructor.
Class goal: This class builds swimming readiness and by emphasizing fun in the water and introduction to basic water
exploration skills and an introductory experience to group swimming lessons.
Skills taught: water entry & exit, blowing bubbles, freestyle arm movement, backstroke arm movement, underwater
exploration, flutter kicking & floating positions.
**Children that require diapers must wear a swim diaper with a swimsuit on top.**
1. Water Independence 3 – 12 yrs. old 30 minute classes Required skills to enter class: Children must be comfortable being in the water without a parent/guardian, must be able
to listen & take direction in a group setting.
Class set-up: Independent in very shallow water. 6 participants per instructor.
Class goal: To help participants become more comfortable in the water and perform basic swim skills, floats, front and
back glides, and entering water with submersion with minimal assistance.
Skills taught: retrieving a submerged object, independent forward motion using arm & leg motions, independent use of a
kickboard, and floating on front and back for 5 seconds, jumping into water with submersion, and basic water safety
skills.
2. Stroke Introduction 3 – 12 yrs. old 45 minute classes Required skills to enter class: Participants must have the ability to demonstrate comfort with these skills with minimal
support: jump into chest deep water and completely submerge head, 10ft from starting point: perform front float for 5
seconds roll over to back float for 5 seconds, swim front crawl to starting point.
Class set-up: Independent in shallow water eight participants per instructor. 6 participants per instructor.
Class goal: To teach participants unassisted front crawl and back crawl for 10-15 yds, independent entry into deep water
with submersion, returning to wall and exiting pool using ladder or stairs.
Skills taught: Unassisted Front Crawl and back Crawl, deep water entries, basic water safety skills, introduction to rotary
breathing and elementary back stroke.
3. Stroke Progression 3 – 12 yrs. old 45 minute classes Required skills to enter class: Participants must be comfortable in deep water, must be able to jump into deep water,
swim freestyle and back stroke unassisted.
Class set-up: Independent in deep water. 8 participants per instructor.
Class goal: To refine basic swimming strokes (freestyle & back stroke) and introduce more advanced strokes, such as
elementary back stroke, and breast stroke, as well as survival floating and basic treading.
Skills taught: retrieving a submerged object, independent forward motion using arm & leg motions, independent use of
4. Advanced Stroke Development 3 – 12 yrs. old 45 minute classes Required skills to enter class: Participants must be able to jump into deep water and swim 15 yards front crawl with
rotary breathing, turn around and swim back to the wall using Elementary Backstroke, and exit the water. Participants
must also be able to tread water for 15 seconds without support.
Class set-up: Independent in deep water. 10 participants per instructor.
Class goal: To refine basic swimming strokes and introduce new swimming strokes.
Skills taught: Refinement of Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke and Dolphin kick. New skills will include: sculling,
eggbeater kick, backstroke open turns, sidestroke, butterfly, feet first surface dives, sitting, and kneeling dives.

Adaptive Splash - An adapted swim program for children with special needs. 5 – 17 yrs 6 weeks $26/session
This class is designed to familiarize participants with the water. Participants will learn basic swimming skills, along with the fundamentals of water
safety. All activities will be adapted to fit the needs of the participants. This class is offered in a group setting for swimmers with little or no
experience in the water. The goal of this class is to build confidence in and around the water.

Junior Lifeguard 11-17 yrs. 12 week session / 1.5 hours
This introductory lifeguard course covers prevention, fitness, response, leadership, attitude & professionalism.
Pre-requisites include: Swim front crawl 100 yards continuously, tread water for one minute, swim 10 yards
underwater. Program fee includes instructional class and CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
**Anyone over 15 years of age can be certified as a lifeguard if they attend all class sessions and
pass skills and test sessions.** ($35 certification fee)
Recreational Swim Team 6 -17 yrs. 6 week session / 1 hour
This is a recreational level swim team program that encourages teamwork and self-esteem. Participants will
practice to develop strokes and improve personal times and skills. Emphasis is on personal improvement. Pre-
requisite: Participants must be able to swim 25 yards of the pool independently using an over-arm stroke with
rhythmic breathing. It is highly recommended that the participant complete Advance Stroke Development Swim
Lessons before enrolling. Program fee includes instructional practices and swim meets.
Recreational Synchronized Swim Team 6 -17 yrs. 6 week session / 1 hour
This is a recreational level synchronized swimming program that encourages teamwork and self-esteem.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of synchronized swimming, which blends creative movement and dance
in the water. Pre-requisite: participants must be able to swim 25 yards of the pool independently. It is highly
recommended that the participant complete Advance Stroke Development Swim Lessons before enrolling.
Program fee includes instructional practices and synchronized swim meets.
Recreational Water Polo 6 -13 yrs. 6 week session/ 1 hour
A cross between basketball, soccer, and swimming—what’s not to like? We will be offering practice and
scrimmages to anyone interested in playing water polo in a stress-free, recreational setting. Participants will do
drills, work on passing, and play games in a sport that is proven to increase endurance and coordination.
Beginners to advanced level players are welcome. Pre-requisite: participants must be able to swim 25 yards of
the pool independently.

These swim lessons are designed to meet the participant’s personal goals in a group setting. Instructors work with
each participant to overcome apprehension and learn basic skills such as floating, swimming under water, and basic
stroke development. This class will take place mostly in shallow water. However, it may move to deep water if
participants are ready.
Intermediate/Advanced Lessons 13 & older 3 week sessions / 45 minutes
These swim lessons are designed to meet the participant’s personal goals in a group setting. Instructors work with
each participant to work on and refine basic skills such as floating, swimming under water, and stroke development.
This class will usually take place in deep water. However, it may move to shallower water if needed.
Competitive Swim Training 13 & older 6 week session / 1 hour
This class gives adults and teens the ability to train for competitive swimming, starting from their current skill level.
The purpose is to prepare athletes for adult swim competitions, triathlons, high school swimming competitions, or to
just improve, refine, and perfect the participant’s swimming abilities. Class will include training on stroke
technique, starts, turns, and endurance. Pre-requisite: participants must have basic deep water swimming skills and
be able to swim at least 25 yards of the pool independently.
Aqua Boot Camp 13 & older 6 week session / 1 hour Looking for a good work out that is different from the rest? Enlist in one of the first Aqua Boot Camp classes in town. This
class is open for Beginners up through Advanced level swimmers. Basic knowledge of swimming is recommended. There
will be a mix of strength conditioning as well as cardio activities that are sure to get your heart pumping. The class will be a
little intense but aims to be very rewarding. Pre-requisite: participants must be able to swim 25 yards of the pool
independently.

Jump right into our water aerobics classes and build cardiovascular fitness and strength. Just like swimming, our water aerobics
classes are easy on your joints, yet challenging enough to help you reach new levels of fitness. Water aerobics classes are suitable
for any fitness level, from beginning exercisers through elite athletes. Working out in the water is a fun way to improve your joint
range of motion, flexibility and balance through the comfortable resistance of water. Participants should work at their own pace
and let the instructor know of any problems.
Classes held in Shallow Water Participants may bring and use their own water shoes, all other equipment is provided. Water shoes are not required to take this
class.
Classes held in Deep Water These classes will be held in deep water and participants will be aided by water jogging belts for buoyancy. The ability to swim is
not required but participants should be comfortable in deep water.

Just like a popular barre class, Aqua Barre uses the pool edge as a barre. With the added benefit of being submerged in water, this
class offers the same great workout for toning and total body relaxation that is easier on the joints and muscles. This class is
suitable for any fitness level. Working out in the water is a fun way to improve your joint range of motion, flexibility and balance
through the comfortable resistance of water.

Lazy River Aerobics Lazy River Water Aerobics! 14 & older 3 week session / 45 minutes $15/session or $3 Drop-in Fee
This class uses the lazy river for a physically-challenging workout. Power walking takes advantage of currents created by the
pool jets as well as by the participants in varying the resistance of the workout. This class is perfect for those participants
interested in a basic workout that can offer varied and individual degrees of challenge. Participants are lead through various steps
and paces by a trained instructor while continuously circling through the current channel.
