When was it started?

In 1965 the Hansen Planetarium was created at 15 south and State Street in downtown SLC

In April 2003 it moved to the new Gateway mall.

Astronomy Day May 11, 2011 Saturday is Astronomy Day in Utah, with free star

parties, demonstrations, hands-on activities for children, the chance to win a free telescope and $1 admission to shows in Clark Planetarium's Hansen Dome Theater. Most of the events are scheduled at Clark Planetarium, which is located in downtown Salt Lake City at The Gateway shopping center. Go HERE for a schedule of events and activities. Also on Saturday, just a couple of blocks away from the planetarium, a fun Utah Archeology Week event is scheduled. Go HERE for more information about that event.
