Foot Jue-Yin Liver Channel

LV-1, Da-Dun

• Location: On the lateral side of the distal segment of tile great toe, 0. 1 cun from the corner of the toenail.

• Jin-Well point• Wood point

Indications: Hernia. enuresis, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, prolapse of the uterus, epilepsy.Method: Puncture subcutaneously 0.1-0.2 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The dorsal digital artery and vein.Innervation: The dorsal digital nerve derived from the deep peroneal nerve.

LV-2, Xiang-Jian

• Location: On the instep of the foot. between the 1st and 2nd toes. at the junction of the red and white skin proximal to the margin of the web.

• Ying-Spring point• Fire point

• Indications: Headache. dizziness, night blindness, thirst, hypochondriac pain. distention of the abdomen, pain due to hernia, dysuna, urodynia, irregular menstruation, epilepsy, insomnia, convulsion.Method: Puncture obliquely 0.3-0.5 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The dorsal venous network of the foot and the first dorsal digital artery and vein.Innervation: The site where the dorsal digital nerves split from the lateral dorsal metatarsal nerve of the deep peroneal nerve.

LV-3, Tai-Chong• Location: On the instep of the foot. in the

depression of the posterior end of the 1st interosseous metatarsal space.

• Yuan-Source point• Shu-Stream point• Earth point

• Indications: Headache, dizziness, insomnia, conjunctival congestion accompanied with swelling pain, melancholia, infantile convulsion, thirst, hypochondriac pain, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, hernia, enuresis, dysuria, epilepsy, pain in the anterior margin of the medial malleolus.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The dorsal venous network of the foot, the first dorsal metatarsal artery.Innervation: The branch of the deep peroneal nerve.

LV-4, Zhong-Feng• Location: On the instep of the foot, anterior to

the medial malleolus, on the line connection Shangqiu(SP5) and Jiexi(ST41), the depression medial to the tendon of the anterior tibial muscle.

• Jing-river point• Metal point

• Indications: Pain due to hernia, pudendal pain, emission, dysuria, distending pain in the chest and hypochondriac region.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The dorsal venous network of the foot and the anterior medial malleolar artery.Innervation:The branch of the medial dorsal cutaneous nerve of the foot and the saphenous nerve.

LV-5, Li-GouLocation : On the medial side of the leg, 5 cun above the tip of the medial malleolus, on the midline of the medial surface of the tibia.

Luo-Connecting point

• Indications: Dysuria, enuresis, hernia, irregular menstruation, morbid leukorrhes, pruritusvuvae, flaccidity of the lower limbs.Method: Puncture subcutaneously 0.3-0.5 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: Posteriorly, the great saphenous vein.Innervation: The branch of the saphenous nerve.

LV-6, Zhong-Du• Location: On the medial side of the leg, 7 cun

above the tip of the medial malleolus, on the midline of the medial surface of the tibia.

• Xi-Cleft point

• Indications: Pain in the abdomen and hypochondriac regin, diarrhea, hernia, metrorrhagia and merrostaxis, lochiorrhea.Method: Puncture subcutaneously 0.5-0.8 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The great saphenous vein.Innervation: The branch of the saphenous nerve.

LV-7, Xi-Guan

Location: On the medial side of the leg, posterior and inferior to the medial epicondyle of the tibia,1 cun posterior to Yinlingquan(SP9), at the upper end of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle.

• Indications: Gonalgia.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: Deeper, the posterior tibial artery.Innervation: The branch of the medial sural cutaneous nerve; deeper, the tibial nerve.

LV-8, Qu-Quan

• Location: On the medial side of the knee, at the medial end of the popliteal crease when the knee is flexed, posterior to the medial epicondyle of the tibia, in the depression of the anterior border of the instertions of the semimembranous and semitendinous muscles.

• Indications: Pain in the lower abdomen , dysuria, emission, pain in the vulvae, prolapse of uterus, pruitus vulvac, pain in the medial portion of the thigh and knee.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: Anteriorly, the great saphenous vein, on the pathway of the genu suprema artery.Innervation: The saphenous.

LV-9, Yin-Bao• Location: On the medial side of the thgh,4 cun

above the medial epicondyle of the femur, between the medial vastus muscle and sartorius muscle.

• Indications: Lumbosacral pain radiating to the lower abdomen, dysuria, enuresis, irregular menstruation.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.7 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: Deeper, on the lateral side, the femoral artery and vein, the superficial branch of the medial circumflex femoral artery.Innervation: The anterior femoral cutaneous nerve, on the pathway of the anterior branch of the obturator nerve.

LV-10, Zu-Wu-Li

• Location: On the medial side of the thigh,3 cun directly below Qichong(ST30),at the proximal end of the thigh below the pubic tubercle and on the lateral border of the long abductor muscle of the thigh.

• Indications: Distention of the lower abdomen, retention of urine.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The superficial branches of the medial circumflex femoral artery and vein.Innervation:The genitofemoral nerve,the anterior femoral cutaneous nerve;deeper,the anterior branch of the obturator nerve.

LV-11, Yin-Lian

• Location: On the medial side of the thigh,2 cun directly below Qichong(ST30),at the proximal end of the thigh below the pubic tubercle and on the lateral border of the long abductor muscle of the thigh.

• Indications: Irregular menstruation. morbid leukorrhage, pain in the lower abdomen, pain in the thigh.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The branches of the medial circumflex femoral artery and vein.Innervation: The genitofemoral nerve,the branch of the medial femoral cutaneous nerve; deeper,, the anterior branch of the obturator nerve.

LV-12, Ji-Mai

• Location: Lateral to the pubic tubercle, lateral and inferior to Qichong(ST30) , in the inguinal groove where the pulsation of the femoral artery is palpable, 2.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

• Indications: Pain in the lower abdominal region, pain in the vulua, hernia.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The branches of the external pudendal artery and vein, the pubic branches of the inferior epigastric artery and vein; laterally, the femoral vein.lnnervation: The ilioinguinal nerve; deeper, in the inferior aspect, the anterior branch of the obturator nerve.

LV-13, Zhang-Men• Location: On the lateral side of the abdomen,

below the free end of the 11th rib.

• Front-Mu point of spleen• Master point of Zang organ

• Indications: Hypochondriac pain, distention of the abdomen, borborygmus, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion.Method: Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The terminal branch of the tenth intercostal artery.Innervation: Slightly inferiorly, the tenth intercostal nerve.

LV-14, Qi-Men• Location: On the chest, directly below the

nipple, in the 6th intercostal space, 4 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

• Front-Mu point of Liver

• Indications: Hypochondriac pain, distention of the abdomen, hiccup, regurgitation of acid, mastitis, melancholia.Method: Puncture obliquely 0.3-0.5 cun. Moxibustion is applicable.Regional anatomyVasculature: The sixth intercostal artery and vein.Innervation: The sixth intercostal nerve.
