We have been investigating what happens when we add 10 and multiples of 10 to a number. We have started our new literacy focus on character descriptions using the book Halibut Jackson. In art, we have been learning to sketch using different grades of pencils. Class One Class 1 have listened to and sequenced the events of the The Three Little Pigs story, before using our phonic knowledge to do some writing. Through construction, we built different types of houses and we have used positional language to describe locations to others. In maths, we have been thinking about parts and a whole. Ask your child to tell you about The Big, Bad Wolf! Class Three Class 3 have been using a new picture book to inspire their writing this week, Snow White in New York. They have been using clues in the pictures to pose questions and develop skills using a question matrix to pose higher order questions. They have compared the two main characters in the story and predicted what they think is going to happen based on clues and prior knowledge of the original story. Class Four This week in Class 4, we have been exploring our new class text - Rose Blanche and making inferences from the book's illustrations. In maths, we have been practising our multiplication skills, thinking about how we can apply what we already know and learning a variety of different ways to solve calculations. This week, we have also begun our DT project of building Anderson Shelters, by investigating different structures and how to make them sturdy.

Class Two

In Class 2 this week, we have been developing our adding skills. We have been investigating what happens when we add 10 and multiples of 10 to a number. We have started our new literacy focus on character descriptions using the book Halibut Jackson. In art, we have been learning to sketch using different grades of pencils.

Class One

Class 1 have listened to and sequenced the events of the The Three Little Pigs story, before using our phonic knowledge to do some writing. Through construction, we built different types of houses and we have used positional language to describe locations to others. In maths, we have been thinking about parts and a whole. Ask your child to tell you about The Big, Bad Wolf!

Class Three

Class 3 have been using a new picture book to inspire their writing this week, Snow White in New York. They have been using clues in the pictures to pose questions and develop skills using a question matrix to pose higher order questions. They have compared the two main characters in the story and predicted what they think is going to happen based on clues and prior knowledge of the original story.

Class Four

This week in Class 4, we have been exploring our new class text - Rose Blanche and making inferences from the book's illustrations. In maths, we have been practising our multiplication skills, thinking about how we can apply what we already know and learning a variety of different ways to solve calculations. This week, we have also begun our DT project of building Anderson Shelters, by investigating different structures and how to make them sturdy.

Christmas Shoe Box Appeal Filled shoeboxes have been collected in and taken for delivery to the Samaritan’s Purse Charity. Thank you to all who returned a box and donated to put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas. Eco Club Now we have our complete eco club, we are looking forward to monitoring how much waste we produce at school and thinking about what we can do next to further reduce our waste. Please use the bins provided outside the hall to drop of waste for Terracycle. There are pictures on the boxes to show you what waste can be recycled. Augmented Reality Mrs Young is developing our computing curriculum and resources. She is very excited about using augmented reality in learning experiences so children can ‘visit’ places they are learning about. In order to do this affordably, we are looking for donations of old mobile phones which can be used with the program. The phones must have access to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. For a list of compatible phones, please see this link:

Remembrance Service

“When you go home, tell them of us and say: for your tomorrow, we gave our today.” The final message of our Remembrance Service on Monday, taken from the Kohima Epitaph. Children read beautifully in church and showed a great amount of respect for those who suffered to maintain peace. As the years pass, it becomes even more important to remember and educate about past events, in order to avoid them happening again and to realise what price was paid. Our young people will soon not have the honour to meet the heroes of WW2. Thank you to all that attended.

Children In Need

To support Children In Need this year, the whole school took part in a fitness session to start our Friday in style. We streamed a video to ‘Get Fit With Joe Wicks’ at nine o’clock, and took part in a nation wide fitness challenge. This last fortnight, there has been a big focus on helping those children less fortunate that ourselves, and Children in Need, along with Samaritan’s Purse, are both great charities that perform great work. Thank you for all the donations.

FoSS Christmas Craft Fayre

Christmas Crafts was a huge success on Tuesday. FoSS volunteers gathered and created a wonderful atmosphere for the children to use their artistic skills, creating Christmas decorations, cards, biscuits and even reindeer food! The hall was bustling with excitement so thank you to all for supporting and coming along.
