CLASS SHIELD This week we are focusing on children accepting differences between each other. They can show this by being helpful, speaking in a polite and friendly way and looking at others to see how they’re feeling. This is the third year our school has been part of the festival and it was yet another outstanding success. I congratulate the members of our senior choir on their commitment to practice and performing and thank them for being an amazing bunch! It was a long but fantastic day. Voting for 2018 School Leadership Team Today, students nominated for a leadership position in 2018 presented their speeches to the school, voting then followed. Our school captains and sports captains will be announced at Presentation Day on Tuesday, 5 th December. PRINCIPALS RECOGNITION I thank Mrs Sara Waldron for organising and running yet another successful Kindy Transition Program. I thank Mrs Carole Shaw for supporting our primary choir on its journey to the Opera House. I also recognise Mrs Sarah Sims and Mrs Megan Jackson for their work with the choirs throughout the year. I also thank Mr John Grimley for organising the PSSA Combined Sports. Working together as partners in the education of your child. Opera House Choir Once again, I was lucky to travel to the Opera House with Mrs Shaw and the senior choir for the Choral Festival. This is the third year our school has been part of the festival and it was yet another outstanding success. I congratulate the members of our senior choir on their commitment to practice and performing and thank them for being an amazing bunch! It was a long but fantastic day.

We are proud of… OUR STUDENTS OF THE WEEK Billie Chapman, Maddy Phillips and Emilie Smith are our students of the week. Billie is congratulated for her outstanding effort in writing, Maddy for excellent work in English and Emilie for her fantastic effort in Mathematics. OUR ASSEMBLY AND PLAYGROUND AWARD WINNERS

Vsna Saban and Andi-Grace Fox (absent) are congratulated for caring for others and themselves. They both received a prize to thank them. OUR WINNERS OF THE CLASS SHIELD

Congratulations to 5/6T who are the winners of this week’s class shield. They are congratulated for caring for others and themselves. Lucy Howarth and Leah Bedwell accepted the shield on behalf of 5/6T.

The following children will be presented with their Striving Higher Awards at the assembly this Friday, 10th November at 12pm. 5 Awards Isabella Bennett 10 Awards Kayden Fletcher, Jasmeet Singh, Reece Urquhart, Aiden Webb, Dylan Ruming, Baylee Humphries, Kobe Smith. 15 Awards Amelia Dolbel Garden Gurus Kayden, Jasmeet, Mrs Urquhart, Mrs Wade and Mr Wade are doing a fantastic job with our garden behind the Library. They are growing a range of plants, with the first head of broccoli making an appearance and carrots just starting to come out of the ground.

Keen to Start School Last Friday was our last day for Transition. Meet Violet who dressed in her new uniform and came ready to start her primary schooling! State Cricket Trials Year 6 student Thalia Ruming attended the State Girls Cricket Carnival last week. The Western team had a very successful carnival, finishing in 8th place. We congratulate Thalia for her selection in the team and for her excellent playing during the carnival.

2017 2BS Bathurst Lions Club Christmas Miracle Appeal The 2BS Miracle Appeal provides Christmas Hampers to the elderly and less fortunate members of Bathurst. As a school we will be collecting non-perishable food items. Donations can be left in the boxes at the front office. The final collection will be Week 9, Monday 4th December. Thank you for your support.

LIBRARY NEWS

Due to our stocktake and gathering end of year resources, this will be our last week of borrowing for 2017. From next week please begin to look under beds, in the back of cupboards and, of course, in school bags, for all books which need to be returned. Thank you for your support with our school library.
