CORE PROGRAMSGuitar • Ukulele • Banjo • Mandolin • Fiddle • HarmonicaOur progressive Core Instrument Pro-grams allow adults to discover (or redis-cover) music in a relaxed and fun group environment. The Core Program is the starting point for many people at Swallow Hill Music, and all Core Program classes meet weekly for one hour throughout the 8-week session.

With an emphasis on actually playing, you’ll start making music and playing songs from day one. All styles and genres of music are covered from tradition-al to modern, building

up an accessible repertoire of songs and skills. Each level seamlessly progresses into the next at the same day and time.

The skills you’ll have after several levels of core classes will allow you to jump into our specialty classes or ensemble classes, where you’ll learn to play as a band with

your peers.

Of course, private lessons are available for students at any level to accelerate your skills with one-on-one instruction.

Founded in 1979, Swallow Hill Music now teaches over 4,000 adults, teens, kids, and pre-school students per year. We have workshops, classes, and private lessons for every interest, age, and skill level – covering pop, rock, blues, jazz, bluegrass, punk, indie, roots, folk, gypsy, old-time, Irish, country, world and more.

Each session we offer more than 200 classes and workshops, and private lessons for guitar, fiddle/violin, mandolin, piano, voice, harmonica, bass, banjo, ukulele, hand drums, drum kit, dobro and more. We also offer classes and workshops in songwriting, recording, theory and musicianship.

Take advantage of unique opportunities to learn and connect with the experts. Our workshops are scheduled almost every weekend and feature teaching from visiting national artists, professional Colorado musicians and our spectacular teaching faculty. To find out more, visit swallowhillmusic.org.

Learn a musical instrument in a social setting through our group classes with one of our highly qualified teachers. We offer classes for students of all ages and abilities. Beginner? No problem! Jump into one of our Core Programs and you will be playing a song after your first lesson. Advanced? Check out our specialty and ensemble classes. Most classes are 1-hour long, running for 8 weeks.

Dig deeper, ask those burning questions, and accelerate your skills through a private lesson with our experienced faculty. Beginner? Start with Guitar 1-A. In a comfortable group setting, you’ll learn to play a song after one class.

Some Experience? Check out our selection of Core Guitar classes and find one that fits your skill level. Many self-taught players jump right into Guitar 2-A.

Knowledgeable Player? If you can play barre chords and know some scales, start with a Guitar 3-A class.

Difference between “A” and “B” classes? Core Guitar “A” and “B” core classes compliment each other. In “A” level classes, you’ll learn new skill sets and songs. In “B” classes, you’ll reinforce your new skills and using them, you’ll build up your repertoire of songs.
