The Weekend Sun has a very popular Classified Section that is constantly building, and becoming a vital advertising tool. Another benefit to advertising in the Classifieds, is that we can always find something that will cater to suit your advertising needs and budget.

Tauranga audiences will enjoy some side-splitting current

events humour as the 7 Days crew visit Tauranga on Monday

as part of the travelling show’s nationwide tour.

In a show regular comedian Jesse Mul-ligan says will be “loose and rude” - the live format guarantees viewers a few surprises.

“The live shows are a lot of fun. They are a lot faster.

“There is a lot of editing that goes into the television show – about 10 per cent of what we record makes the cut.

“At the live shows people get to see all of the loose bits.”

The live 7 Days format gives each comedian the chance to dazzle the audience with an individual stand-up performance before the main show at Baycourt.

Hosted by Jeremy Corbett 7 Days is a comedic slice of current events featuring two panels of teams captained by Dai Henwood and Paul Ego.

Having racked up 100 episodes in its Friday night spot on TV3, the show is proving a hit with viewers. Jesse, who regularly features on the bench and writes many of the scripts for Jeremy – the only part of the show he says is scripted - thinks the key is quick-think-ing banter.

“We all have a bit of a talent for it, but it’s about practise too – the more you do it the easier it is.

“Even though we do the same shows, we are always with a differ-ent combination of people.”

A Hamilton boy, Jesse spent his sum-mers playing around Mount Maunganui and is looking forward to returning to the beachside city.

He says the audience can expect to have the “mickey” taken out of their much-loved town.

“Oh yeah there will be some of that. People seem quite happy to laugh at themselves.

“The best part about the live shows is meeting people that watch the shows and hearing how well it is being received.”

7-Days is at Baycourt on Monday, December 3 at 7.30pm. For tickets contact Baycourt or phone 0800 484 2538.

It’s been said about the Christian

walk, it’s not how you start but how

you fi nish that counts.

Scripture often speaks of this journey as a race to be run. The writer to the Hebrew Church says in Hebrews 12:1–2: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and per-fecter of our faith.”

The Apostle Paul declares in 1 Corinthi-ans 9:24: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” He says further in Philippians 3:13-14: “one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and strain-ing forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call

In 1953, Stanley Miller made a small quantity of amino acids

in a controlled experiment. Amino acids are the

building blocks of life. It felt like the fi rst experimental

verifi cation of evolution, and led to a resurgence of hope that science alone might explain everything… but within a few decades various assump-tions were shown to be false (like the make-up of gases in the early atmos-phere, as revealed by geologists in the 1980s in ‘New Evidence on evolution of Early Atmosphere and Life’ in the Bulletin of the American Meteoro-

logical Society). Miller conceded in the 1990s, saying: “The problem of the origin of life has turned out to be much more diffi cult than I, and most other people, envisioned.”

While scientists do a great job (and help us live longer) they cannot explain how life began. NASA Scientists rejoiced in 1991 at their confi rmation of the initial ‘big bang’ – but then everyone remembered that every effect needs a cause. In the last two decades science has discovered ‘machinery’ inside the cell that is more complicated than could ever have been imagined. The idea that we’re the result of a cosmic accident alone is convincing fewer people. For

of God in Christ Jesus.”Often Christians are

‘side-lined’ because of past hurts in life, whether it be family life, in relationships or in the Church, or because of unresolved sin issues.

They may have started their lap well, excited about their faith and about their place in the purposes of God but along the way they have stumbled or fallen. Thou-sands of men and women who were saved during the charismatic move-ment of God in New Zealand in the 1960s to the 1980s have been side-lined by such things and are no longer run-

ning their race and are no longer walking in Godly destiny and purpose.

Dear brother, dear sister, it is time to forget what lies behind and it is time to get back into the race! Don’t let the failings of others derail you and rob you of what God has

for you. Come again to the foot of the

cross with your hurts and wounds and past sins, and leave them there! This is a new day

and “you have need of endurance, so that

when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised” (Hebrews 10:39)

What’s it got to do with religion? Whatever view you take on the above, a God is still needed in the picture – and that means your hope in God is valid. He might be invisible to the eye, but He is there!

So why not visit a church or look into these things, for faith can make sense, and that can bring much needed hope to life!
