Campaigning Campaign posters and buttons usually have simple messages

Ads on TV can be fairly complicated.

Some ads are positive (attempting to make the featured candidate look good), while other ads are negative (attempting to make the opposing candidate appear bad).

Campaign ads also use a variety of persuasive tricks to win voters over, such as:

-Bandwagon: telling people to choose a candidate because he or she is the most popular

-Testimonial: having a well-known person voice support for a candidate

-Empty phrases: using statements that sound good but have little meaning, such as, "I believe in America"

Your assignment… Image that you are running for the next president of the United States.

Working with a partner you are to create your own presidential campaign and platform

*One of you will run as president and the other will run as vice president. (Rock paper scissors for it if you must)

You will create a poster that you will use to run against the other opponents (your classmates)

You will present these posters to the class & we will conduct a mock election using both the popular and electoral system.

Requirements-Creative Party Name in BIG BOLD LETTERS (Today we have the Republicans & Democrats)

-Both candidates full names

*Who is running for president? Who is running for vice president?

-Creative Slogan (Short & Sweet!)

-At least 2 campaign platforms-1 paragraph for each, explaining why this is important & how you will fix it.

-1 picture (hand drawn or printed) that represents your campaign

Your campaign is to be 100% positive!

Attempts to make other classmates look bad will result in an automatic 0!
