EMT Class Coordinator Application Spring 2017 Illini Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) is searching for an outstanding and reliable candidate to fill the EMT Class Coordinator Position for the spring semester of 2017. Due to an increased application pool, an additional EMT Class Coordinator is required in order to hold a second EMT class section. The EMT Class Coordinator is in charge of overseeing the logistics of the IEMS EMT course that graduates around 18-24 EMTs each semester. We encourage anyone who is interested to apply and all applicants will be considered equally. The key responsibilities of the IEMS EMT Class Coordinator are to assist the Lead Instructor in teaching when needed, keep track of attendance and grades, and compose or revise quizzes for each class. Please note that the Class Coordinator is required to attend all lectures and practicals except in cases of extenuating circumstances, and must acquire exam conflicts for themselves when applicable. The EMT Class Coordinator is in charge of overseeing the logistics of the IEMS EMT course that graduates around 18-24 EMTs each semester. For this upcoming semester, the newly hired Class Coordinator may also coordinate with the current Class Coordinator. The newly hired Class Coordinator will only need to attend one class section, while the current Class Coordinator is responsible for the other class section.

The selected EMT class coordinator will be a full member of the IEMS officer corps and will be required to staff two office hours per week, as well as attend IEMS officer corps meetings every three weeks.

The application is due no later than Friday, November 4th, 2016 at 5:00 PM submitted to [email protected]. No late applications will be accepted. If chosen, you will receive further information regarding the location, time, and details of a meeting with the executive board and the current EMT Lead Instructor.

QUALIFICATIONS

1) All applicants must hold a current and valid American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

2) All applicants must hold a current and valid State of Illinois EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, or EMT-Paramedic license.

3) All applicants must hold an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification prior to applying for the Class Coordinator position, or with approval from the executive board.

4) The Class Coordinator will be appointed by a majority Executive board vote following the application due date. Applicants will be notified by Friday, November 11th if chosen. Class Coordinator and officer training will begin effective immediately.

EXPECTATIONS

If chosen as the EMT Class Coordinator, you will represent IEMS as a leader within the Education department. The expectations and main responsibilities of the Class Coordinator are as follows:

1. Collaborate with the EMT Lead Instructors for regular class materials and updates on each student.

2. Attend all classes and practicals, unless there are extenuating circumstances, and assist with any equipment demonstrations, lectures, etc.

3. Compose or revise quizzes for each class as necessary.4. Keep track of student attendance and grades, ensuring that each student is maintaining

above an 80% in the class.5. Provide students with timely reviews of their progress.6. Ensure that each student completes their required events.7. Provide exam conflict forms to students as needed.8. Assist all other EMT department members in duties as needed.9. Answer all current and prospective student emails in a timely and accurate manner.10. Attend 2 office hours per week and IEMS officer corps meetings once every three

weeks.
