Catholic Church in the town of Palo in
Leyte province, Philippines.
It was formed as aDiocese in

carved out from the Archdiocese of Jaro
and erected on 27 January 1951 for the whole
civil province of Capiz and Roxas City.
On 17 January 1976 Pope Paul VIelevated the
Diocese of Capiz into an Archdiocese.

Archdiocese of CebuCebu originally belonged to the
Diocese of Manila which was established on February 6, 1579
as a suffragan to the See of Mexico. When Manila was elevated
to an archdiocese by Pope Clement VIII, Cebu was created
as a suffragan diocese on August 14, 1595
On April 28, 1934, it was elevated to a
metropolitan archdiocese with the
Most Rev. Gabriel M. Reyes was its first archbishop.

Archdiocese of Jaroone of the oldest
dioceses in the country. It was created a diocese by virtue of a
papal bull of Pope Pius IX on May 27, 1865, according to a document signed by Archbishop Gregorio Martinez, then
Archbishop of Manila, under whole ecclesiastical province the new diocese belonged as suffragan.
The Archdiocese has ninety-one (91)
parishes, eighty-five of which are under the
direction of the diocesan clergy, and
six (6) under the direction of the
religious priests.
It has a land area of 5,324.0 square
kilometres, representing 1.8
percent of the total land area of the
country.In 2009, the report of the government shows that it has a total population of
2,333,141.

Of thearchdiocese
erected by virtue of the Apostolic Bull "Qui
Ab Initio" of His Holiness Pope Pius IX, of holy memory. The
said Apostolic Bull was issued in Rome on May
27, 1865.
