STRIPPER CLIPS

CLIPS, on the other hand, are metal brackets used to hold cartridges together for the purpose of charging a magazine, e.g., stripper clips used to charge M-4/AR-15 platform magazines.

CLIPS The top-loading M-1

Garand magazine, which is integral with the receiver, operates differently: Once all rounds have been fired, the charging handle is held to the rear, thus automatically ejecting an empty 8-round CLIP from the magazine.
