What is Fall?
Rondeau by Linh-Thuy Le
The question arises, when summer must
go
What is Fall? A season we know
brings colors of change, warm tones held
dear
and a chilly breeze as we pack on thick
gear
The crunch of leaves where green grass
would grow,
A pleasure to gather and jump in or throw
Long walks under foliage that hangs low
The youth of the summer will disappear
That is Fall.
Yet is it perceivable? Can you feel the
wind blow?
In Texas, when summer goes would you
feel woe?
Candy corn and turkey, reasons for cheer
Are these all we know of the middle-aged
year?
Summer to winter, a mere stepping stone
That is Fall.

Life and Death
by Anonymous
The soul of the Heel echoed in the
hall.
Only quiet was left to respond to its
call.
Constricting clicks set to icily ignite,
the steps gunned forward in fight or
flight.
The morgues occupants let loose
their roar,
growing louder, harder, colder to the
shore.
Escape was the razing at Bethany,
bereft of His son’s sympathetic
mercy.
The mortician’s call was deafening.
Audience swelling; motive: suffering.
Avoiding it, there was no way.
No matter—I liked the silence
anyway.
