Happy 80th Birthday, CLF!
P A G E 3S E P T 2 0 1 0 - F E B 2 0 1 1
Inquirer headline last February 7: Just another day for Aquino on hisbirthday quite the same words todescribe CLFs birthday!
CLF arrived at work on his birthday,February 3, just like most days.Normally, CLFs work day activities
consist of review of companydocuments, reading voice actuatedemails from all over the Philippines andthe world, nurturing his crib (group ofcadet engineers), doing messengers
jobs (distributing notes) which he callsexercise, sipping coffee, and attendinglots of meetings. Well, same thingshappened that day. He spent hismorning at the office analyzing,
thinking, clustering, engineering andreengineering, innovating and so on.Came noon, he left the office toattend two meetings scheduled at 12nnand 2pm onwards.
Working on his birthday may not beextraordinary but working at 80 isnt foreveryone. Driving at 80 isnt for every-one. Having tons of major majorachievements isnt for everyone. Well, being slightly AL is common. Maybethats why CLF is not just anyone. And thats why CLFG employees madesure that his birthday will be recognizedno matter how busy his schedule was.
So at the afternoon break of February4, CLFG employees gathered at thetraining room to give CLF a BIRTHDAYSURPRISE! Although it was already a
day after his birthday, we still got himpretty good! Hes the man that lovesworking but also enjoys eating. Every-one enjoyed that laughter-filled after-noon. The pancit tasted good, the cakewas sweet, and everyone was happy.
CLFs birthday is always a special day toremember.

by Allied Sales Corp. OIC, LA Funelas.
The night started rolling as the hosts
called the employees to give intermis-
sion numbers, asking each one of themif they are single or double. Divine
Tapit, Rea Britanico and Diane Castillo
serenaded us with love songs while
Princess Abanilla and Dane Balanaon
turned the garage into a sizzling dance
floor! Between the performances were
games, which CLFG employees
participated in. The winners for the
games were: Cherie and Roland
Ipasok Mo Ang Straw Ko, Princess and
Dane Paper Dance and Mariane and
CJ the Igiling Mo Ang Numero Ko.
The event was
officially closed by
Maricel Tayao, PFS
Mktg. Off icer,
after the dinner.
Valentines Day
is traditionally
commemorated by lovers to celebrate
their love and affection to each other but
we at CLFG are not traditional. We inno-
vate. Thats what we do. We redefine
things. We define Valentines Day as a
celebration of human bonding and
camaraderie.
Tina Bangngay
The month of February started cold as
the Siberian winds swept across the
country for its annual visit. While we
usually hear the very much clichd
"Malamig ang Pasko" during December,we also have Malamig ang Pebrero"
which can be taken figuratively or liter-
ally. Single individuals take it figura-
tively though as the feeling of coldness
is usually used as a metaphor for the
lack of special someone to keep us
warm.
Considering the number of singles in
CLFG, our beloved company didnt want
us to feel the coldness of February
through CEFFIs Pre-Valentines Party
last February 11, 2011. That Friday
night was not cold at all. We actually
had two huge industrial fans to keep us
from sweating too much!
The event was hosted by CEFFI Coor-
dinator Rodel Nace and CLFG Marketing
and Communications Assistant Kara
Orejola. It started with an invocation at
6:45 PM followed by welcome remarks

CEFFI Success Story: Devs Internet Cafe
P A G E 5S E P T 2 0 1 0 - F E B 2 0 1 1
It is my privilege to be a part of CLFollosco Group Inc. It aims for the goodof its employees. It offers several pro-grams to the employees to help themprogress despite the adversity of our
fast changing time. Several trainingsand seminars were held to hone andnourish its employees learning growth. The employees are nurtured to becomemore productive and well-rounded indi-viduals.
Aside from the educational programsfor the employees, one of the programsthat I want to highlight is the supportCLFG is giving to its employees whoaspire to become entrepreneurs. As anexample, I myself have already availedof a business loan. I know that at first, putting up a small business needs adetailed plan of actions. I was so
grateful when I opened up my idea andMa'am MFB willingly gave some advice
and guided me to thoroughly evaluateeverything to avoid failure upon opera-tion. She was so accommodating andopen about her thoughts and concernsabout the matter. Knowing that I have
a great mentor gave me confidencethat I'll be able to do it right. At pre-sent, I have my internet cafe that hasbeen successfully operating for almostsix (6) months and counting.
We have so many ideas and plans inincreasing our financial resources. Asan employee, it may seem impossibleto accommodate the idea of putting upa business because the required capital
is quite large. We got used to budgetingour salary till the next pay day, but ifwe really want something, what weneed is a will to pursue it. We are soblessed to have a company that sup-ports employees needs and helps themreach their dreams.

How to Stay Fit While Working
P A G E 6S E P T 2 0 1 0 - F E B 2 0 1 1
Complaining about stiff neck and backpains? What about those belly fats andvaricose veins?
These are just some of the things thatcould result from having low levels ofactivity and unhealthy food choices youmake while sitting in your desk andworking for eight hours or more a day.Its bad for our health and results to alot of undesired effects (to which we canall relate to, right?)
So here are some tips on how you canstay healthy and fit even during thelong hours of work:
Walk aroundIf the idea of repeatedly standing andpacing around makes you worry that
your co-workers will think you havesuddenly contracted a stomach bug, there are other purposeful methods forgetting out of that chair. If you need todiscuss something in person with a co-worker, dont call her on the phone, take a walk over to her and ask. Ifsomeone stops by and wants to knowwhere they keep something, dont give
him a long explanation about thethings location, get up and show him.Youll provide more satisfactory serviceand develop better relationships, and
kick those enzymes back into gear.
Eat wellThe American Medical Association, among many others, recognize thatsnacking on nutritious foods in smallportions throughout the day can bemore beneficial than eating a few bigmeals, especially for people who dontexercise much. It keeps your metabo-lism running as it is constantly burningup food. It will also prevent overeatingat meal times and help you avoid thatbloated stomach. As for the kinds offoods one should be eating, Im sureyou already know all the ones to avoid.
Try to eat healthier foods such asvegetables and natural fruits, leanmeat and seafood.
Drink lots of waterGetting up for water is of twofold bene-fit, of course, because it combines theact of walking to the cooler, and all thecountless wonderful benefits of drinking
water. Mostpeople drinklots of coffeeor any other
caffeinated drink which makes themdehydrated. Drink water instead andyou dont have to worry about con-suming too much since the majorityof us dont drink nearly enough any-way.
Do simple exercisesAside from walking around, it neverhurts to do some stretching and afew exercises to avoid muscle stiff-ness and body pains. As an addedbenefit, it can help remove yourdrowsiness. If you feel uncomfortabledoing this in your desk or if you feelthat you are disturbing your co-
workers, you can go to the restroomand do your thing. Hopefully nexttime, you wouldnt need to get thatbottle of Omega anymore!

ENERGYLED LightsLED light bulbs could be
a cost-effective option
for lighting a home or
office space because of
their very long lifetimes.
Efficiency: LEDs emit
more light per watt than incandescent
lights (i.e. A 13 watt LED lamp emits
450 to 650 lumens which is equivalent
to a standard 40 watt incandescent
bulb.)Cool light: LEDs radiate very little
heat in the form of Infrared that can
cause damage to sensitive objects or
fabrics.
Lifetime: LEDs can have a relatively
long life of 35,000 to 50,000 hours vs.
the 10,000 to 15,000 and 1,0002,000
hours of the fluorescent bulb and in-
candescent light bulbs, respectively.
Low toxicity: LEDs do not contain
mercury, unlike fluorescent lights. However, LEDs may contain other
hazardous metals such as lead and
arsenic.
BIOTECHNOLOGYBt Eggplant
Feature:Resistant to thehighly-infestingfruit and shootborer.Benefits:For farmers:It helps cut theuse of expensive pesticides, cut produc-tion cost, reduce exposure to harmfulchemicals. For consumers:It has lower price from higher eggplantproduction and protects their health. Italso enhances environmental protection. With BT eggplant , it is expected thatthe countrys eggplant yield which iscurrently at (ave.) 9.95 metric tons perhectare will raise by two to five times.
