Crossmolina Deelrovers Bord na nÓg year commenced with the annual night was held in Cawleys of Rakestreet on Saturday evening the 21/11/2015. Thank you to everybody who helped out in a super evening. 2015 Players of the year were as follows; U10; Richie Shelley U11; Mark Dermody U12; Danny McDonald National Schools; Brian Hopkins U13; Cillian Gilroy U14 & Dr Ml Loftus Award; Conor Caden U15; Luke Callaghan U16; Niall Maughan U18; Darren Caden A special mention of thanks to Conor Loftus for making the presentations.

Team Summary;

2016 U6s U6s Girls & Boys training commenced in May of this year and is continuing indoors and on Astro. There are great numbers attending the training sessions and well done to those of you parents who are staying on and helping out our coaches.

2016 U8s U8 Boys, trained throughout last winter in the sports hall before going outdoors in April and were still active in October. They took part in ‘Go Games’ blitzes and also had several challenge games during the summer. We also had two teams in the annual Ballina U8 blitz. Finished year with a party in Tumble Jungle.

2016 U10s. The U10s trained from April right through to September. We competed in the Mayo GAA Go Games series, and also in the Knockmore U10 tournament. The lads also had several challenge games through the year. It is hoped to run a mini league on the Astro pitch over the winter months.

2016 U11s In 2015 we entered two teams in the North Mayo league played in August, September and October. The Divisional finals were held in Ballina this year, we lost out in both finals.

2016 U12s All games were played on the Go-Games format . We played in 10 competitive matches and 4 challenges during the summer. The highlight of the year was the day in Croke Park at the Connacht Play & Stay, the lads got a guided tour of Croke Park, and played three games. Also this year a skills competition was introduced in the club. Four lads, Daragh Syron, Eoin Murphy, Danny McDonald, Declan Tolan were picked and represented Crossmolina in the divisional final held at St Tiernans Park on 23/9/2015. We finished joint third in 2016.

2016 National School Team.

The combined National Schools team reached the North Mayo B Final where they beat a very strong Naomh Padraig team in a thrilling final played in Moygownagh. Special paraise to theose mentors involved in Crossmolina National School as the girls and boys teams are now doing very well in the Cuman Na mBunscoil and Mini 7s competitions. 2016 saw the boys team winning the Mayo Div 2 Mini 7s and also the Mayo Div 2 Cumann na mBunscoil finals. A truly great experience with both finals being played in McHale Park.

Crossmolina National School created their own piece of school history with their first County Comann Na mBbuscol 11 A-side county title with a comfortable 5 – 15 to 2 – 8 win over Bekan NS in Elverys McHale Park on Wednesday last. Played in very warm sunshine the winners were in control for long periods. Lead at the break by 3 – 6 to 1 – 2 with Niall Coggins and Diarmuid Walsh the goal scorers the score could have been much different were it not for two wonder full saves by Conor Howley in the Crossmolina goal. Bekan grabbed an early goal after the break but Niall Coggins bagged another brace of goals to ensure The Baxter trophy would be going to the Banks of the Deel. 2016 U14s

U14 football started in April with the Feile qualifiers, we had two games in Crossmolina and qualified for the Feile B Finals in Swinford. This proved a step to far for this bunch, but a lot was learned from the matches. The U14 competed in Division 3 of the county league. This division had some very strong sides and with our limited resources we struggled in a few games. We competed in the Mayo D Championship. We won two out of four games but failed to progress from the group. We lost out by one point to Eastern Gaels who went on to win the county final. The final competition of the year was the North Mayo B Championship. We were well beaten in the final by a very strong Naomh Padraig side.

2016 U16s Summary Our U16s played in Division 5 of the county league, we qualified for the semi final where we lost out to Cill Chomain the eventual county winners by one point after extra time. Fortune not favouring us as a great shot rebounded from the crossbar to save Cill Chomain. The county championship also saw us qualify for a county final which was played in McHale Park in August. On the night a couple of injuries to some of the older players left us up against it, and Erris St Pats proved too strong. The North Mayo U16 C championship proved a good test. A thrilling game in Crossmolina against near neighbours ArdMoy McHales resulted in a three points victory for Crossmolina. Knockmore were then defeated to set up a rematch with Erris St Pats in the North final. The game was played in Kilfian on the 28/09/2016 and proved a closer contest, Erris St Pats prevailing.

Crossmolina U16 Team continued their good form of late with a comfortable away win

over Islandeady in terrible conditions with rain throughout. In a keenly contested

opening half the visitors lead at the break by three points 0 – 7 to 0 – 3 with points from

Lorcan Loftus, three, Keelan Hegarty two, and one each from Robert Murphy and

Edward Gough. Islandeady scores came from Alan Kelly, two points, one each from

David Ferdia Moran and Oisin Coen.

Two goals in the space of a couple of minutes from Keelan Hegarty after the break was

the perfect start playing into the elements. Further points from Keelan Hegarty and

Lorcan Loftus extended the lead. Islandeadys only reply was a point from Oisin Coen.

points to spare after a game of two halves which Crossmolina dominated the opening 30

Crossmolina and Cill Chomain served up a exciting County U16 D League Semi-final in

Glenamoy on Sunday morning of last week. The visitors had the assistance of the breeze

in the opening half but did not convert the many chances they created and the hosts lead

2016 U18s 2016 started in Division 2 of the County league. We had a mixed league campaign loosing more games than we won. Next up was the Summer league, one win and one loss wasn’t enough to progress to the knockout stages. The County Championship was played over a long period between August and still going in October. Two losses and one win was our lot at time of writing. In the North Mayo Championship we were defeated in round 1 away from Belmullet.

Belmullet ran out comfortable winners by seven points in the county Minor League at St Tiernans Park on Tuesday of last week after a evenly contested opening 25 minutes the visitors tacked on three points before the break from Patrick Ruddy and Brian Keane to leave the half time score 0 – 6 to 0 – 3. Ronan Lavelle and Darren Gill were the scorers for the Deel-Siders.

Belmullet killed the game off as a contest with another three points from Patrick Ruddy, Michael and Martin Boylan in a six minute spell.
