Here’s The Greatest Pizza Box You Have Ever Seen Mankind takes another gigantic evolutionary leap forwards. posted on Sept. 7, 2014, at 9:49 a.m.

Pizza boxes have lids. Fine. But what if that lid could be easily torn off?

Page 3: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

And then, what if that lid could be torn again, into little plates?

That would be pretty fricking incredible, would it not? But WHAT IF I TOLD YOU IT’S ABOUT TO GET BETTER? Because, what if it then folded into a little box for left overs that will *actually* fit in your fridge?

Game: changed. And that, my friends, is the GreenBox, which is 100% recyclable and 1,000%* awesome. *no, not a mathematically possible percentage but still somehow a factually accurate statement. According to the Huffington Post: “These smart boxes are sold to several pizza box distributors around the country, including Performance Food Group and U.S. Foods.” The president of the company told the website it was now being used in half of the Whole Foods stores across America. It’s also being used by Upper Crust Pizzeria in Boston.

Genius Pizza Box Transforms Into Plates, And Then Storage For Leftovers The Huffington Post | By Kate Bratskeir Posted: 09/05/2014 7:00 am EDT The only flawed thing about pizza is the pizza box. It consumes a tremendous amount of refrigerator space and is terribly difficult to dispose of: It calls for strong arms and a foot-stomping jig to fit inside any conventionally-sized garbage can. GreenBox, a "revolutionary re-design of the pizza box" has the potential to change pizza's single pitfall. From the outside, GreenBox looks like any average pizza box.

Page 6: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

But the contraption does much more than cumbersomely transport a pie.

The top of the box is perforated to tear into four serving plates, a feature that nixes the need for dish-ware. This certainly amplifies pizza's convenience factor.

Page 7: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

The bottom of the GreenBox turns into a storage container half the size of a pizza box -- which is wonderfully suitable for leftovers.

Jennifer Wright, GreenBox's president, told HuffPost that this concept was originally envisioned for birthday parties, parks and picnics. To the company's initial surprise, the feature is popular among late night office dwellers. These workers may order a full pie to the office for dinner, but toss the uneaten slices when they leave (or, attempt to shove an enormous pizza box into the shared office kitchen). The compact option makes bringing pizza home, or storing it in said fridge, simple. Wright says this little box could even fit in a purse or backpack -- though one has to wonder about the oil dripping out. These smart boxes are sold to several pizza box distributors around the country, including Performance Food Group and U.S. Foods. Wright says half of the Whole Foods in the U.S. use GreenBox in their stores. They're also crafted from 100 percent recycled and recyclable corrugated cardboard, a fact that will satisfy any tree-hugging pizza lover. Does this invention make you love pizza any more than you already did? Or would that be impossible?

Turn a Pizza Box into Serving Plates and a Leftovers Container Azadeh Ensha 7/29/09 5:00pm

The next time you order a pie for yourself and those near and dear to you, don't just toss the box aside. With a few quick steps, you can transform it into four serving plates and a container for your leftovers. The above video shows the patented "green box" in action, a pizza box specially designed to break down along perforations to give way to cardboard plates and a convenient storage container for the remaining slices. Obviously you can already do the same yourself without too much extra effort, so feel free to apply the idea to your un-perforated pizza boxes. The innovation seems like a handy and environmentally sound way to ditch the paper plates.

Could this be the best pizza box design ever?

The thought of having to find room for a giant pizza box in your fridge is almost enough to make you decide on Chinese food for dinner instead. We said almost. Pizza makes for the perfect leftovers, but the pizza box almost ruins it. You'd think by the time someone figured out 3-D food printing, we'd have a better pizza box design. Hoping to reinvent the way pizza is consumed and stored, GreenBox invented a new pizza box. It's still made out of cardboard, which happens to be 100% recycled and corrugated, but this box is different. There is a perforated cross along the top of the box so that it can be removed and torn into four pieces, perfect for serving four slices of pizza. But what about the other four slices left in the box? Another portion of the box tears away to create a pizza box that's half the size of the original for leftovers. OK, so the box isn't high-tech or come with disposable heat lamps (is that even possible?). But it will save you from finding a way to shove an entire pizza box in your fridge when the only thing you want to do is take a nap. According to GreenBox, some Whole Foods locations as well as various pizza chains around the country use the boxes. The company is working with Pizza Hut in the Middle East. Viral video schools us on how we should be serving pizza Feb. 18, 2014 at 3:20 PM ET

Is ordering pizza ever a bad idea? Answer: No. But for being so easy and fast, the cheesy-tomato-gooey-deliciousness does gets everywhere. And you dirty up all those plates when doling out slices.

Enter GreenBox! Though this video made its debut back in 2009 (when Ashton Kutcher tweeted it!), it's being shared all over again this week, mainly because the concept is genius. Sold by Ecovention, the GreenBox pizza box breaks down into plates and a storage container for leftovers. But you don't have to buy a GreenBox to do this clever trick — as you'll see in the above video, any box will do. Former CEO William Walsh (featured in the clip) thought of the idea when he was a football player in college and always eating pizza. "The constant scarcity of clean plates forced him to tee up the box to use as a plate," Ecovention president and co-founder Jennifer Wright told TODAY.com, adding that the boxes can now be found everywhere from local pizzerias to Whole Foods. The best part of this DIY concept? It's eco-friendly! Lindsay Tigar is iVillage's associate parenting editor. Follow her Twitter, Pinterest and Google+.

THE GREENBOX PIZZA BOX IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO PIZZA SINCE PIZZA

For the past five years, my pizza-eating life has been nothing short of a lie, and all because I was unaware of the greatest pizza invention since pizza — the GreenBox. Appropriately named for its environmental friendliness, the GreenBox is an innovative pizza box that doesn’t just transport pizza, but can also be used as serving ware, and even a handy dandy purse-sized leftover container. So not only can you have

your pizza, you can eat it too. Could it be? Did pizza just get, dare I say it, better? Originally introduced in 2009, this mad stroke of genius appears to flown relatively under the radar for the past five years, which is as embarrassing as it is unbelievable. Its methodology is simple and effective — the top of the box is meant to be detached and torn along its perforated lines to form four perfectly sized pizza plates. This eliminates the necessity of either paper plates or normal dishware, saving either paper or the water you would use to run the dishwasher. Sounds pretty green to me. But what if you can’t finish that extra-large pie with every topping under the sun? You’ve already used the top, so have you backed yourself into a pizza-less corner? Of course not! GreenBox preempted this dilemma as well, and made sure that the remaining portion of the box could be used as a to-go container. The bottom part folds in half, which is the perfect size for storing whatever leftover pizza you may have (because let’s face it, how often do you eat less than half a pizza).

Page 17: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

Jennifer Wright, the president of GreenBox, even told the Huffington Post that the box is small enough to fit into a purse or a backpack! Gone are the days of attempting to shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is made out of “100 percent recycled and recyclable corrugated cardboard,” which means that not only is your pizza satisfying your hunger, but its container is also satisfying your environmentally conscious conscience.

Thus far, HuffPost reports that GreenBox can be found in about half of Whole Foods stores in the United States, as well as Performance Food Group products. The GreenBox has also been heralded by Time as one of the “50 Best Inventions Of 2009,” by New York Daily News as “The Swiss Army Knife of Pizza Boxes,” and by BusinessWeek as “The Perfect Pizza Box.” But despite the sheer brilliance

Page 18: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

of the idea and a multitude of press, it doesn’t seem as though mainstream pizza chains like Domino’s, Papa John’s, or Pizza Hut, have adopted the new technology. And considering that we throw away 3 billion single-use pizza boxes every single year, using GreenBox certainly sounds like an excellent idea.

The GreenBox comes in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from 10 inches all the way up to 18 inches. There is also a “to-go” GreenBox, affectionately nicknamed the “Doggie Box.” Why, I am not so sure. But regardless of naming conventions, each of GreenBox’s boxes comply with four core environmentally friendly goals — to add utility, utilize sustainable materials, reduce carbon footprints and, divert waste from landfills. All that, and of course, carrying good pizza.

Page 19: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

The design of the GreenBox, according to the company website, ”combines … twin passions: respect for the environment (greener designs) and respect for the consumer (better designs).” And ultimately, this simply makes for a better pizza experience in general. After all, who doesn’t like to play with their food (containers)?

Of course, GreenBox isn’t the only under-recognized and underutilized “green” pizza box out there. The Pi Pan is another innovative design that goes a slightly different route — the reusable pizza carrier is made out of ultra-thin stainless steel, and can be reused up to 1,000 times. By eliminating the need to throw a box away, the Pi Pan “reduce(s) waste disposal costs” and “achieves not only economic, but also environmental…benefits.”

Page 20: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

As neat as the Pi Pan is, it certainly isn’t the Transformers of pizza boxes like GreenBox is, and has also had a tough time catching on in the market. But even so, the possibilities around pizza inventions are endless, and I for one, am only too happy to serve as a beta tester. So the next time you’re out and about and hungry for pizza, which let’s be honest, is probably every other day, see if you can scope out a GreenBox. And if not, at least you now have the creative know-how to turn your pizza box into a few plates and a leftovers container! Images: jeniwright/YouTube; Good News Reuse, GreenBox NY/Facebook

This Genius Pizza Box Is Gonna Change Everything

Page 22: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

It’s Friday night. You order a gooey, cheesy, piping hot pizza with your friends, and it’s amazing. But you’re left with one or two slices rattling around in an impossibly huge box that you can’t fit into the fridge. Not to mention a sink full of messy plates. Even if you do finish the pizza, there’s still the issue of that massive cardboard aberration, which usually can’t even be recycled. Talk about a buzzkill. Enter GreenBox, an invention that’s about to change the lives of pizza enthusiasts everywhere and make it even more socially acceptable for you to say:

Page 23: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

Not only is GreenBox made from 100 percent recycled cardboard for an environmentally guilt-free pizza experience, but the top is designed to be broken into four plate-sized pizza troughs, so you and your friends don’t have to do dishes. Then, when you’re done, the other half of your GreenBox breaks down into a storage container that will actually fit in your fridge.

THIS PIZZA BOX MORPHS INTO A STACK OF PLATES, TUPPERWARE CONTAINER PUBLISHED ON 9/8/2014 BY KRISTIN HUNT

Even though they contain the most precious cargo, pizza boxes don't serve much of a purpose after you've unloaded your pie. That's about to change with GreenBox, a revolutionary pizza box that transforms into four plates and a leftovers container through some strategic tearing and folding.

Page 25: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

The whole goal of GreenBox is to make pizza-eating more eco-friendly -- and given all the paper products that usually go with it, it's only slightly greener than leaving your Hummer running in traffic. So the company made these boxes out of 100% recycled (and recyclable) cardboard with special perforated edges that turn the top half into four plates and the bottom half into a smaller storage box. GreenBox prez Jennifer Wright says several pizza box distributors have bought the "smart boxes" -- in fact, half of the Whole Foods in the US apparently already use them. (We're sure this guy was also an early adopter.) Check out a demo below, which'll make you wish you paid more attention to origami in elementary school:

GreenBox Continues to Save the World, One Pizza at a Time Leon Kaye I Wednesday October 8th, 2014 We have all had that moment where out of convenience, or desperation, we call up the local pizza joint and order a pie. And why not? Pizza covers all (or most) of the food groups, is satisfying, and can be eaten anywhere. The only caveat is that manky cardboard pizza box in which your instant meal is delivered. Awkward, bulky, and quite gross to look at after you’re done devouring your Hawaiian or meat lover’s special, that tomato sauce and cooking oil-stained box may not be compostable or recyclable. But never mind, Ecovention’s GreenBox, or the “pizza box of the 21st century” as described by Fox News, is continuing to make a difference in the pizza industry—six years after we first touted this innovation here on Triple Pundit. This recyclable pizza box has its own Twitter account, has been showcased on Rachael Ray’s show and keeps you updated on the latest pizza creations on its blog. And of course, in case we forget, it’s 100 percent recyclable. The GreenBox is one of these innovations that make you slap your head and cuss to yourself, “Why the **** didn’t I think of that?” Its genius is in its simplicity. The top of the GreenBox simply breaks down into four individual plates (no flimsy napkins or Styrofoam plates needed), while the bottom folds into a handy storage container,

Page 27: Click below to read what people are saying about GreenBox ... · shove a giant pizza box into a tiny refrigerator, or worse yet, a tiny recycling bin. Better yet, the box itself is

holding next morning’s breakfast. Say good-bye to plastic wrap, aluminum foil and those annoying disposable plates. The only question mark remaining is what to do with those pesky little packets of Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper. The latest pizza joint to jump on the GreenBox bandwagon is Pizza Pie-er, the venerable New England pizza house with locations in Boston, Cambridge and just an hour down I-95, Providence. “At Pizza Pie-er, we pride ourselves in providing a unique and endless selection of specialty pizzas. It is only fitting to carry a one-of-a-kind pizza box that is just as good for the Earth as it is useful for our valued patrons,” said Bahman Jalili, owner of Pizza Pie-er. “The GreenBox is part of our larger eco-friendly initiative: at Pizza Pie-er, if customers bring in any used pizza box, we recycle it and give the patron $2 off a large pie.” Dubbed one of the 15 most brilliant ideas of 2010 and scoring press all over the map, the GreenBox is one of the more sustainable ideas to come out of the fast food industry—it has far more staying power than a salad at a burger joint or a sandwich chain growing its own lettuce at a restaurant. Now it’s time to put the pressure on some national chains to get serious about being more responsible, stock these boxes and support recycling. “We are thrilled to have the GreenBox featured at Pizza Pie-er – a remarkable restaurant chain that serves so much more than just pizza. It is a pleasure to be a part of their exceptional vision,” said Jennifer Wright, Co-Founder of Ecovention, LLC. Now it’s time for Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Little Caesars and CPK to make this idea scale and join in on the recyclable, sustainable fun.
