September 4, 2019 Dear Parent/Guardian, We are so happy to welcome Mrs. Ana Hernandez to our St. Hilary staff. Ana is the mom of first grader, Adan Hernandez. She will be working with me in the morning, supervising the cafeteria with Mrs. Martin, and then assisting in the main office in the afternoon. We are grateful to have her with us. Please welcome her in the warm St. Hilary way. Fr. Aloy is looking for two or three volunteers to serve on a fundraising committee for St. Hilary. This committee would meet every few months unless there is a large event that they would be planning. Please let me know if you are interested and I can give your name to Fr. Aloy. Attendance: The Office of Catholic Schools has completed an analysis of attendance data and test scores for all schools in the Archdiocese. They found that children who are absent 10 or more days in a school year have a significant drop in their ACT Aspire test scores. It is no surprise that if a child is not in school they cannot learn. Please make sure that daily attendance is a priority for your child. I told my children that school was their job, if they were not at work, they would be fired. It is never too early to teach your child this important life skill and establish good punctuality. Super Soccer: At this time we do not have the enrollment to continue Super Soccer classes. If you missed the sign up information, here is the link and information. We hope that the classes will begin next Wednesday, if enough children enroll. Dear Parent/Guardian,

We are so happy to welcome Mrs. Ana Hernandez to our St. Hilary staff. Ana is the

mom of first grader, Adan Hernandez. She will be working with me in the morning,

supervising the cafeteria with Mrs. Martin, and then assisting in the main office in the

afternoon. We are grateful to have her with us. Please welcome her in the warm St.

Hilary way.

Fr. Aloy is looking for two or three volunteers to serve on a fundraising committee for St.

Hilary. This committee would meet every few months unless there is a large event that

they would be planning. Please let me know if you are interested and I can give your

name to Fr. Aloy.

Attendance:

The Office of Catholic Schools has completed an analysis of attendance data and test

scores for all schools in the Archdiocese. They found that children who are absent 10 or

more days in a school year have a significant drop in their ACT Aspire test scores. It is

no surprise that if a child is not in school they cannot learn. Please make sure that daily

attendance is a priority for your child. I told my children that school was their job, if they

were not at work, they would be fired. It is never too early to teach your child this

important life skill and establish good punctuality.

Super Soccer:

At this time we do not have the enrollment to continue Super Soccer classes. If you missed the sign up information, here is the link and information. We hope that the classes will begin next Wednesday, if enough children enroll.

Click here to enroll Username: HLR(AS) Password: sthsoccer

Reminders: All new band members, there is a parent meeting scheduled for Fri. September 6th at

6:00 pm in the Music Room. This is an important meeting to hear about this year’s

program, meet Mrs. Ann Kazmi and our representatives from Quinlin & Fabish will be

there to measure students for the correct instrument.

8th grade reminders:

High schools have posted their Open House and Shadow Days on their websites, I encourage you to begin your search early and to take advantage of the shadow day opportunities.

We will host a High School Fair on Tuesday September 17th at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. A number of representatives from various high schools will be here to share information with you regarding open houses, tours, shadow days, and financial information. All 7th and 8th graders are welcome to attend with their parent.

The Wednesday envelope will only be sent home electronically. If you have not turned

in the email address form please do so as soon as possible. Remember to print clearly.

Each week the Wednesday envelope is posted on the school website at

www.school.sthilarychicago.org under parent resources.

Thank you to all the families who have completed the pile of forms that you have

received. I understand that this can be a very tedious task and I appreciate your

cooperation. If you have not yet completed and returned the forms please do so as soon

as possible so that we can organize and file them appropriately.

The people have spoken and the Queen of Hearts Raffle is back. The first drawing is

Friday, Sept. 6th at The Claddagh Ring Pub. There are some changes this time around

with bigger prizes for you to win, check out the flyer in today’s envelope for more details.

Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of our first go around with the

Queen, we are looking forward to keeping her at bay a little longer this time.

We have had many orders for gym uniforms. We have placed an order and expect them

to arrive shortly; therefore your order may be on back order currently. Your child is

welcome to wear shorts and a t-shirt for gym class until the uniforms arrive. We

appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Medical forms: All children new to St. Hilary need medical, dental, and vision forms. Preschoolers need

medical and vision forms. Kindergarteners need medical and dental forms. 2nd graders

need dental forms and 6th graders need medical and dental forms. According to the

Illinois State Board of Education; students are to be excluded from school by October

15 if these health and immunization requirements have not been met.

Coaches and Volunteers:

There is a list of Compliance Requirements on the school website under Family

Forms. There are links to all the forms you need to volunteer.
