Ladies vs. Tramps at the Belle CupIt was a clash of values for the Belle Cup this year as the “Ladies” took on the “Tramps”. SaturdayJune 7th was when the showdown took place, as 20 women took to the links in a Ryder Cup styleteam event. Team “Ladies” donned their finest white and pink outfits and were Captained by LadyShauna Wilde. Tramps were clad in the colours of sin, black & red, and were led by Trampy PattyYashar. The “Ladies” got out to an early lead when Kathy McLeod & Sharon Dowdall defeated Tracy Mar-

tin & Lynn Campbell in an alternate shot match. The second match of the day featured the Mother-Daughter duo of Sue & Erin Vassel for team “Tramp” taking on Karen Winter & Moira Merrithewfrom Team “Ladies”. The match was all square through 11 holes and was looking to be key in decidingthe trophy results. A little further back, in the four ball matches, Team “Tramp” was making a charge. Louise Lacchin

& Carolyn Eleoff made short work of Lynn Benson & Nikki Smith, while Jean Kwiecien & Donna Elkindof Team “Ladies” did all they could to stave off Christine Biggar & Connie McArthur, but were even-tually defeated on the 16th hole. Captains Wilde & Yashar were barely on

speaking terms as the final results werecoming in and the tension mounted. Theteam of Winter & Merrithew managed toturn up their engines in “the Loop” and de-feated the Vassels with 3 holes left to play. In the end it was Team Lady that took

the final points when Heather Cavadias &Mona Stirling teamed up to win a four ballmatch against the Tramps’ Debbie Hawkey& Manon Graves, despite quite a bit oftrash talk before play began. The Belle Cup trophy was presented to the members of Team “Ladies” on the Verandah, where

both teams came together to celebrate following the round. Congratulations to all the players on agreat showing for your respective teams.

It was a Black, White & Ooh La La affair for the Ladies’ Member Gueston Thursday, June 19th. All 60 participants were looking chic, dressed

in crisp Black & White with a “splash of colour”. For the first time in quite

a few years the forecast was clear and many commented that it was the

“best day we’ve had yet”, as the sun shone with very little humidity. Mem-

bers & Guests played a two net better ball format counting the lowest

two net scores of the foursome. As a special treat, each Member/Guest

twosome had the chance to “Beat a Pro” on hole #13, by giving the pro

one of their clubs to use. Professionals Adam Tobin and Patrick Yashar

noted that they had more success hitting the ball into the water than using

the ladies clubs to hit the green.

Once all the golf had been played, the ladies were treated to a French

inspired meal that had everyone sneaking back for seconds. Convenors

Betsy Swaine and Manon Graves were bombarded with applause as

Ladies’ Captain, Tracy Martin and guest Marilyn White from Lambton both

took to the microphone to congratulate them on a fabulous event.

Congratulations to 2014 Ladies’ Member Guest Champions: Patricia

Mines, Angela Charlton (Imperial Golf Club), Dawn Yeates & Shirley

Speck (Mississaugua Golf Club) who scored a sensational 22 under par

for the event.
