Bees travel from flower to flower, gathering nectar and collecting pollen. Sometimes the pollen that is stickingsticking to

the bee from one flower, stickssticks to the pistil of

another flower.

Bees gather NECTAR--a mixture of water, sugar,and other nutrients made by flowers.

Bees also collect pollen--a yellowish orreddish powder made by the male part

of the flower called the stamen!

Pollination is the process needed for seeds

to develop.

When the pollen lands on the sticky part of the pistil, it travelsto the egg deep inside the flower.

The pollen joins the egg and forms the seed...

You and I are pollinators whenwe run through a field of flowers.

Pollen can be moved from flower toflower with the wind, in water, attached

to birds and insects.
