What is Clinical Psychology?

Clinical Psychologists basically diagnose patients in mental institutes or hospitals with mental illnesses, and research how that illness forms, and how it affects the person.

Clinical Psychologists can also work with forensics, to get into the mind of serial killers, or mentally ill criminals, and to get to the reason of the actions of the killing.

Works mostly with people dealing with Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar disorder, major depressive disorder, and personality disorders. Basically, all the awful, major mental illnesses.

Education/training needed

To be a Clinical Psychologist, you need to take a general Psychology course in college, plus post graduate training

In America, you need a Ph.D in Psychology, after college internship, and a written and/or oral presentation on the subject. When you finish all these things, you get a Certificate, proving you are able to diagnose patients

Well, or course, you have to deal with psychotic people that don’t think like a normal person should. A psychologist has to be able to work with the mentally ill, and know all the risks they are taking.

Psychologists also have to be very observing and be able to give multiple and repetitive tests and assessments

Must be able to correctly diagnose many patients and give helpful advice for a huge variety of personal subjects

IF YOU CAN NOT DEAL WITH PSYCHOTIC, DANGEROUS PEOPLE (like Charles Manson) THIS JOB IS NOT RIGHT FOR YOU!

Clinical Psychology future

Clinical psychologists are becoming increasingly popular. The competition to get into a psychology program at a college is very high. You have to be very dedicated and passionate for this type of work.

Most psychologists create their own businesses. For future employment, most just create their own jobs. But as always with anything medical, internship is very high, and some have pay.

My suggestion is: in college, take at least one semester of business. You’ll get more money and more patients if you work for yourself. Of course, hospitals and institutes are always looking for more workers.
