Clear + Brilliant® Procedure Contraindications / Considerations*

• Contraindications

– Actinic keratosis, melasma, rosacea, other skin conditions (e.g. skin cancer, active

infections, cold sores, open wounds, rashes, burns, inflammation, eczema, psoriasis)

– Predisposition to keloid formation or excessive scarring

– Compromised immune system (e.g. HIV, lupus, scleroderma, systemic infections)

– Sensitivity to light; use of photosensitizing agents/medications

– Systemic steroids

– Retinoids should be avoided at least 2 weeks prior to treatment

– Isotretinoin (Accutane®+) treatment or drugs in a similar class

– Skin recovering from a cosmetic procedure

– Botox injections or dermal fillers 2 weeks prior to treatment

• Considerations

– Predisposition to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)

– Active tanning, UV exposure

– Medication which may affect coagulation, predispose patients to petechiae

– No studies on cosmetic tattoos, pregnant or nursing mothers or silicone implants

Post-Treatment Care

• Allow skin to heal; do not rub, scrub or exfoliate

• Use bland moisturizer and mild cleanser

• Avoid exposure to sunlight

• Use SPF 30+ sunscreen daily

• Make-up can be used to lessen the appearance of redness

Treatment Tip Removal

• Remove by squeezing the

sides of the tip

• Discard the tip according to

your local regulations

• Secure handpiece back in the

cradle or place in storage case

• Clear + Brilliant treatment tips are single-use and should be

disposed of after each treatment.

• Do not use acetone on the tip as this may cause damage

preventing the tip from functioning properly.

Handpiece

• Wipe exterior surface and sealing window (take care) with

70% alcohol solution or Cavi wipes

– Use an alcohol prep pad or moisten a gauze pad (do not soak)

Exterior Surfaces

• Wipe console surfaces and exterior chassis with a soft cloth

– Use a mild cleansing solution (e.g. 70% alcohol solution)

• Clean display screen with antistatic glass or plastic cleaner

• Allow the handpiece window to completely dry before treatment.

• Do not use harsh detergents or acetone to clean the handpiece

or exterior surfaces, including the console.

• Do not pour cleaning products directly on the system and/or

handpiece, as this could cause damage.
