Dedication

The dedication of Clinton Prairie High School was held Sunday, April 29, 1962, at 2:00p.m. The invocation was given by Becky Brown, followed by a welcome by Mr. Eugene Alexander, Superintendent of Schools. The students' viewpoint of the new school was given by Tom Johnson, President of the Student Council. Several selections were sung and played by the band and choir. Then a few remarks were given by Mr. Frances Irwin, President of Clinton Prairie School Board, Mr. William Holloway, President of Clinton Prairie School Building Corporation and Mr. Eugene Alexander, representing the contractors, attorneys, and the architect. Mr. Eugene Brown, architect then presented the keys to the building to Mr. Doyle ewton, Principal of Clinton Prairie High School. The benediction was given by Reverend James E. Campbell.

High School Chorus

Prairie Singers The Prairie Singers are a group of select voices from the High School Choir. They make many public

appearances during the year. The highlight of their appearances this year was their performance in December for the State Convention of Agricultural Leaders at Purdue University. Various smaller ensembles from within the group participated in the District and State Vocal Contests.

High School Choir The High School Choir membership is open to anyone in grades nine through twelve. This year the

choir performed for the Christmas Convocation, the County Music Festival, the District Choral Festival, the School Choral Concert. and Commencement.

Vocal Quartet

The Vocal Quartet is a select, mixed quartet which sings for various com­munity and church affairs. Theypartici­pated in the State Vocal Contests.

The main purpose of the high school band is the development of musicianship and music ap­preciation. It also familiarizes students with good band music and teaches them the principles of marching. The band has been engaged in perform­ing for athletic events. Two concerts during the school year have been planned. Many band students partie ipated in the District and State Music contests, and the Purdue All-star Band.

Atheneum is a club composed of students who are interested in the advanced study of books. Its purposes arc to sponsor a greater interest among the students in use of books and library service, to stimulate reading interests and to improve the library service of the school by assisting in extra services.

County Champion grain judging team. State champi­on livestock judging team. The livestock judging team competed at the American Royal in Kansas City.

This year we had four boys make the Hoosier Farmer Degree. They were Max Swackhamer, Jim Kesterson, Jerry Carter, and Tom Johnson.

Each year our local chapter holds a speech and essay contest. Past winners of this have been Steve Brown and Max Swackhamer respectively.

Sunshine Society

The Sunshine Society has as its purpose to spread sunshine and warmth throughout the world. The various activities we have performed are entertaining the migrant workers by having a bake sale last summer, giving money to "CARE" and collecting toys for the Salvation Army and the migrant workers. We also plan to sing for an old people's home before the end of the school year.

Activities One of our activities this year included a Halloween Dance for the club members and their dates. We plan to have one more dance in the spring.

Installation of officers and initiation services were held last fall . Our mothers were invited. For entertainment the Prairie Singers sang and Rose Marie Waggoner perlormed a singing skit. Refreshment s were served.
