Select the right tool for the job:• Motor-driven clippers for heavy-duty cutting• Adjustable blade clippers for tapering and general cutting• Trimmers for trimming and detailing

Use “other” cutting tools effectively:• Raise, lower and spin the haircutting chair. Move the client, not the cutter• Use the mirror to see the cut, improve the quality• Use your white shirt in the mirror as a backdrop to see cut outline

Why do I need at least three tools?• Use a high-powered detachable blade clipper for volume cutting• Use an adjustable blade clipper for precision tapering• Use a powerful trimmer for all the edges and details

Trimmer tips:• Cordless trimmers offer greater mobility and convenience• Corded trimmers offer more power and durability• T-blades make it easy to trim corners and ear areas• Square blades are easier to manipulate in tighter spaces• Use small trimming combs when working with trimmers• Check the blade before you trim; a misaligned blade can nip• Clean up – set your line in place and clean upward against hair growth direction, do not scratch the neck• Don’t forget ears, eyebrows and nose!

Tips for adjustable blade clippers:• When using attachment combs, set your clipper to the #000 or closed position• Cut clipper-over-comb with the lever in the #1 position to better control feed and blend• Invest in a replacement clipper blade once a year to maintain performance and client comfort

Select the right detachable blade for the job:• #1 – Clipper-over-comb• #3¾ – Starting blade, classic taper cut• #00000 – Military and tight fade cuts• #T-24 – Texturizing and blending• #1½ – Short tapering• #000 – Shear style cutting, clipper-over-finger

Hints for using detachable blades:• Only put a blade on your detachable blade clipper when the clipper is running • You can take a blade off when the clipper is on or off• Two screws beneath the drive cap allow you to easily change the blade drive for like-new performance• Cut down through your blade sizes when tapering • Start with larger sizes and go smaller/shorter

Clipper techniques:• Clipper-over-comb (overhand) – under the crestline, tapering• Clipper-over-comb (underhand) – over the crestline, layering• Backhand cutting – interior layering• Shear style cutting – use your clipper like a scissors

Using clipper combs:• Available in white, pink and black• Use light combs on dark hair and dark combs on light hair – see the contrast, see the guide, make the cut• Always hold your clipper comb at an angle to prevent lines and steps in your taper

Textured cutting tips:• Try a T-24 texturizing blade for wisping, thinning, blending, layering and chipping – all with a clipper!• Get two cutting lengths out of one blade by cutting with and against hair growth direction• Use the OA/FD blade for freehand shaping of textured hair• Use the T-84 blade for fast take-down prior to bald fading

Don’t forget to oil and clean your blades:• Use Clipper Oil to lubricate and clean blades• Use Blade Care Plus® Dip to wash away hair, buildup and preservatives – leaves blades clean, lubricated and cool• Use Cool Care Plus® 5-In-One Spray to cool, disinfect, lubricate, clean and prevent rust on blades without removing them from the clipper
