AltexSoft’s client is a provider of cloud computing services for the federal, telecommunications

and high performance computing markets. The company provides wholesale and private-

labeled cloud infrastructure services to market leading organizations in the multi-system

operators, telecommunications, and Federal markets.

The client’s idea was to build a cloud application to test a product hypothesis with minimal

resources, and to get the product to customers as soon as possible. Time-to-market was very

important.

To provide rapid implementation, a solution was required which would better support their

customer and partner facing business processes.

The solution is for small and medium-sized cloud hosting

retailers, which allows the integration of hosting billing

solutions such as WHMCS with large cloud solutions

providers like RackSpace, Amazon, Linode using

a single user-friendly interface.

Solution

As an independent and trusted advisor, AltexSoft has always aimed at recommending solutions that align with clients’ business needs and provide results in a timely manner.

To lower its operating costs and speed up the new product development, it was decided to develop a MVP – minimum viable product. The minimum viable product is a version of a new product which allows a company to collect the maximum amount of validated learning about customers with the least effort.

The product is typically deployed to a subset of possible customers, such as early adopters, who are thought to be more forgiving, more likely to give feedback, and are able to grasp a product vision from an early prototype or marketing information.

Implementation

The MVP has been designed to be agile in deployment, massively scalable, hypervisor agnostic, and geographically redundant. The MVP integrated WHMCS billing system with a wide range of different cloud hosting services, such as Rackspace, Amazon AWS, Linode, Zerigo and so on.

The WHMCS provisioning module works with different cloud service providers via a python-based layer using SOAP. The system provides a Yii-based management panel to small hosts that allows resellers to configure connections with different clouds and create product bundles that can be imported into WHMCS.

AltexSoft was engaged in the full development lifecycle

including requirement specification, architecture design, development and testing, and deployment.
