BUILDING ETIQUETTE ATTENDING PROJECT MEETINGS
4-H members may have club and/or county project
meetings. The member can attend both. Some animal
projects require attendance at county meetings to exhibit
at fair. Please remember to call your project leader if you
are or are not able to attend the project meetings. 4-H
leaders are volunteers. We need to respect their time
they give to you and the 4-H program.
AFTER HOURS DROP SLOT
The UW-Extension Office has an after-hours mail drop
slot if you need to drop off applications or other “mail
size” materials after regular office hours.
The slot is located on the east side under the windows,
near the south (Indiana Street) entrance of the building.
It will be checked daily and you can place up to legal
size envelopes in it.
As many of you know, the UW-Extension office, the
Public Agency Center (PAC) and Fair Park facility is the
home of countless meetings, workshops, clinics, etc.,
involving literally hundreds of youth and adults each
month. It’s an outstanding resource for all of us. Let’s
keep it that way!
Please be sure your 4-H members and leaders know
that certain portions of the building are off-limits to the
general public and that all of us are responsible for
keeping the UW-Extension Office, PAC, and Fair Park a
friendly and attractive place to meet. Thanks for your
help!

Dairy Promotion Association has sponsored the annual event for 31 years. Gehring View Dairy, LLC, Eugene and Christine Gehring
and their family, will host the 2018 event on Saturday, June 9, from 6:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. They are located at 4630 State Road 83,
Hartford. Breakfast will be served rain or shine. The goal of Breakfast on the Farm is to promote the dairy industry with its 43.5
billion dollar economic activity to the state’s economy, showcase a ‘home-made’ breakfast made with many local ingredients, and
give an up close and personal tour of how a typical Wisconsin dairy farm functions in a typical day.
Volunteer at Breakfast on the Farm
Many 4-H families have been involved as volunteers in the past years. From parking cars to making coffee, feeding the ducks to
feeding the nearly 5,000 guests, or serving ice cream to serving as a guest tour guide, volunteers are the success of the event. We
are collecting our volunteers by using a tool called Sign-Up Genius. Just go to the link: http://www.signupgenius.com/
go/4090f45acad28a64-2018
Please sign up to volunteer no later than May 31, 2018.

Thank you for your generous donation!
Winter Leadership Camp at Camp Tapa Wingo was amaz-
ing. I learned about how everyone has different personali-
ties with true colors and what role they play on a team. I
was also taught how to improvise when presenting in
front of group of people. We had fun sledding outside and
even got to see some cool wildlife. Making new friends
from other counties was my favorite part.
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to
go to Winter Leadership Camp.
This year I was given the chance to attend Winter Leader-
ship Camp and it was a great experience. At camp, I was
able to improve my presentation skill as well as I learned
how to better manage and speak in front of a club or
group of people. I also learned how important it is to set
goals for yourself as a leader. This is a great camp that
helps people to learn more about themselves as a person
and as a leader.

tivity as youth arrived. County Basketry Leader, Nancy
Schulz and her team of youth and adult helpers guided
youth in learning the ancient craft of basket weaving. Ex-
citing new skills for all the Explorers as none had ever
made a basket before. Each youth left with their color-
personalized basket and long list of ideas on what they
could use their basket for.

Once we receive registration & payment, campers receive an immediate confirmation letter, followed by more information in late May/early June. *$100 if postmarked on or before May 18th and $150 if postmarked after May 18th. Registrations not accepted after June 1st and space is limited. Our department offers several scholarships for Marinette County residents. If interested, write a 200-300 word essay titled "Why I Want to Participate in Conservation Camp." Winners will be chosen based on the content of their essay. Application is required – see below! Please send essays, along with all signed registration materials, by April 20, 2018 to Anne Bartels (see back of brochure for address). Please include your name, address, & telephone number. Winners will be notified by May 6th. If you live outside of Marinette County, check with your local county land conservation office, 4H, local sportsmen’s clubs, and veterans groups. They may also offer scholarships.
This camp provides positive educational outdoor experiences, fosters an appreciation for nature, and introduces a variety of careers in natural resources and conservation. Professionals & volunteers from various agencies present programs on topics like wildlife, habitat, water quality, fisheries, orienteering, trapping, outdoor recreation safety, camping skills, and canoeing. They also serve as overnight staff and cabin leaders. Campers make new friends, participate in hands-on activities and learn new things, practice social & leadership skills, enjoy the outdoors, and just have fun! Here are some comments from previous participants: “Very fun, you can count on me being
there next year!” “I think this is the best camp I went to.” “This was my first time coming here and
it was a blast!” “I had lots of fun and made friends.” “The cook’s food was awesome.”
