Hello Cloverly Families!
We hope everyone is enjoying the nicer, warmer weather as Springseems to finally be here for real. April was a SUPER busy month atCloverly and we want to thank those who put forth great effortsstarting with Theresa Phillips and her whole family who coordinateda strong Spirit Night at Squisito’s in Burtonsville on April 7th. Thanksto the Phillips family and the huge turnout of Cloverly families, staff, and friends-‐‑ our school made $700 from the proceeds!! FABULOUSJOB everyone! We also need to applaud Wendy Clifford who onceagain pulled off a wonderful Bingo event at Cloverly on April 15th. Itwas an All Purpose Room full of fun and prize winning that night!
We want to thank all of those who helped and participated inCloverly’s Book Fair and Heritage Night! The Book Fair is a majorundertaking and special thanks go out to Marie Merritt, AmberChristensen, and Angela Edwards for handling it all beautifully. Nextup was Heritage Night, which is no small task either-‐‑ EduardoBarcelo, Mrs. H-‐‑T, and the Cultural Heritage committee organized awonderful evening and a huge THANK YOU goes out to all theparents who helped make it special by sharing your culture with usthrough food, crafts, pictures, clothing, and artifacts. It was a funnight and we enjoyed celebrating our diversity. Then it was time tograb the gardening gloves for Courtyard Cleanup! If you noticed how‘spiffy’ things were looking around the school and in the courtyard,it’s because our army of volunteers came out and helped weed, rake, trim, and mulch-‐‑ special thanks to Meredith Holman who alwaysspearheads this hard working committee!

May 2-‐6 is Staff Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to write a note (or 2 or 3) of appreciation to a staff member for their work with our students. Additionally, encourage your children to write notes or draw pictures to their special staff friends. We are so grateful to have a school with awesome teachers and staff that care deeply for our children. Please let them know that we don't take that for granted!
The administration and PTA has a fun week in store for the staff. This includes donations from our local business partners: Panera, Chick-‐fil-‐A, Cuba de Ayer, and Rita's. We parents are thankful for their support of our Cloverly staff as well.

Recently the PTA funded the purchase of new books for all classroom libraries. This replenished the worn out books and gave the students newer titles to enjoy. The teachers expressed their gratitude, but we also loved some of the notes of appreciation from our 1st grade readers. Here are some excerpts:
“There are fiction and non-fiction books, they are awesome!”
“Thank you for the books, you are the best PTA.”
“The books have interesting topics. Some topics help us be better readers.”
“We are thankful for all the new books. One reason is you can find new things. We love the pictures.”
“We love to read and they are really good.”
“Thank you for the books. Books help us to learn. We learn new information on interesting topics.”
“Thank you PTA! Thank you for the books you gave us... I can learn.”
“They are interesting. We can learn Spanish in some of the books.”
And in other literary news, the Book Fair donated more than $1000 in books to the school while generating additional funds to support Cloverly activities hosted by the PTA. Great job, everyone!

6 Paint the “Cloverly Cub Stone”
12
Celebrate a special occasion for your child, Cloverly group, or Cloverly staff member like a birthday, sporting event, encouragement, etc. by painting the stone for them! If you would like to paint the stone on a particular day, visit http://www.cloverlypta.org/cloverly-‐cub-‐stone-‐reservations-‐and-‐payment/ to reserve and pay for your date (subject to availability). The cost to paint the rock for 24 hours is $15.00. Payment is due immediately via the PayPal link given on the site in order to secure & confirm your date. On your reserved day, you may paint the rock any time after 4:00pm on the day before.
Standard Rules-‐ Reservations are “Rain or Shine”, and refunds will not be given if weather does not cooperate or if school becomes closed on your reserved day due to weather, but we will do our best to provide alternate open date accommodations for you. Dates reserved and not paid for within 24 hours will be cleared and made available for others. All renters must use their own supplies. Spray paint or standard, basic outdoor paint is recommended for use. Messages and graphics painted on the stone should be non-‐offensive. A tarp will be kept in the front office to cover the stone should the school deem any artwork as “inappropriate”. The school reserves the right to make this judgment in the best interest of the children at Cloverly Elementary School.
Want to rent the rock but too busy to paint it yourself? Simply provide the supplies and former Cloverly Cub, Alice Creel (now an accomplished art student at Blake) can help for a fee of $10.00! Email Alice at [email protected]

Help Cloverly’s PTA Make $$:Recycle Your Toner, Ink and Cell Phones
Cloverly’s Recycling Program
The PTA is working with The Funding Factory to recycle old toner, ink cartridges and cell phones. When we collect enough material—20 pounds or 20 products—we send the items to The Funding Factory and they send us a check which we put towards programs for our kids!
For your convenience, we have two small recycling boxes available for you to drop off your materials to be recycled. One box is located underneath the teacher/staff mailboxes and the other is located in the teacher/staff lounge. For items too large for these boxes, please leave them in the PTA office.
We appreciate your continued support with the PTA recycling program! Please contact SohailMosaddegh at [email protected] any questions.
