President’s Report – April 2019
Hello to all club members.
Welcome to the April newsletter president’s report. I must say it is so good to see so many
new and old members turning up for our meetings. I also want to acknowledge our 4
mischievous long time members for all the photo shoots we see monthly in our newsletter. If
you are not sure who they are, let’s see if you can name them at our April meeting.
Wally has been so busy with designing a new club jacket, windscreen banners, caps and
stubby holders. If you didn’t see the design at our last meeting please speak with Wally.
The design to-date is awesome. It will be good to have new merchandise for winter. Any
feedback from members will be appreciated. Members will be informed when the
merchandise has arrived and orders will be taken in the next coming months.
I personally want to wish everyone who is travelling to the Nationals a safe journey. Drive
safe and I hope you enjoy the event and good luck to everyone. Bring back plenty of
trophies. Queenslanders here they come.
Our last run was a combined run to Eagle Heights Tavern then onto Charles Holm Park.
Thank you to those club members who woke up early to join us for breakfast. There were
plenty of laughs and it was good to catch up with everyone. After breakfast a couple of
members ventured down the mountain to have a picnic in the park. Unfortunately, not many
members attended. Don’t forget to check out our newsletter for upcoming events and our
report on this run.
In closing I want to thank everyone who supported our daughter Lauren and partner Gareth
in purchasing the Sauce Sombrero Holders. For those that don’t know what they are, it holds
sauce bottles upside down so no wastage with the sauce. Lauren has now produced blue
ones with oval holes. If you are interested come and see Sharron or I and we would only be
happy to take your orders. Blue ones will be on display at our next meeting with the original
brown, yellow or red ones.
Feel free to contact me by email [email protected] with any suggestions,
complaints or compliments regarding the club.
See you all at our next meeting.
That’s all for now cheers.
Happy Easter & don’t forget Anzac Day
Mick.

March Run
First: Eagle Heights Mountain Resort Breakfast Mt Tamborine
Second: Charles Holm Park BYO Picnic Lunch Hope Island
Sunday was a nice morning for a GT Run up to
Eagle Heights for breakfast, although a sleep in
would have gone down really well. As a 6.30am
meet was a killer but not as bad as having to get up
a 3am to travel up from Ballina in NSW like
Theresa, David and the family did great effort guys
was, great to see you, and even Rohan
Quirey was there. For the rest of the
group will meet up at HJ at
Loganholme as the norm, then headed
off down the highway to the Oxenford
exit, then up the short side of Mt
Tambourine to Eagle Height Resort for
breakfast. As usual a great variety of
choices to pick from to eat and with
either a coffee or tea to wash it all down, it was
then catch ups all round for everyone. Even a few
of the Gold Coast members also attended, after
breakie and a chat some of the members headed
for home.
A few
headed
down the
mountain
to the second part of the run for lunch at Charles Holm
Park at Hope Island, this was a bit of a fizzer as only
about 8 members turned up. So, looks like we give
double runs a miss in the future. For those that did
make it there was a nice breeze off the water which
made it a nice cool afternoon. After a chat a light lunch everyone called it quits and head off.
To those that made the effort “Thank You!”
Thumbs up Theresa & family

If anyone in the Mackay area has any ideas on events up here please give me a call or if you have an idea for a run it would be great to hear about your idea
A little old lady from Wisconsin had worked in and around her family dairy farms since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation.
When canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores in the 1940s, she read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan. The producers wanted a rhyme beginning with Carnation Milk is best of all.' She thought to herself, I know everything there is to know about milk and dairy farms. I can do this. She sent in her entry, and several weeks later a black limo pulled up in front of her house. A large man got out, knocked on her door, and said, "Ma'am, the president of Carnation milk absolutely LOVED your entry. So much, in fact, that we are here to award you $1,000, even though we will not be able to use it for our advertisements." He did, however, have one printed up to hang on his office wall. Here it is:

Deepest Sympathy
It is again with a heavy heart that I inform
all of you of the sad news regarding another
one of our members in the Northern region
of the Falcon GT Owners Club.
John Marson (from Ayr) has not been well
for a while and passed away peacefully on
Monday afternoon (18th March) with family
by his bedside.
All members of the Falcon GT Owners Club
of Queensland send our condolences to
Sharon (his wife) and the Marson family. As
you all know when John was well, he
regularly attended, over the many years, all
the Falcon GT Club events that were
organized, proudly driving and displaying
his Fords.
John Marson ...Rest in Peace you will be
greatly missed by all.

CAR CRUISE TO "CLAREDALE
PASTURES" IN CLARE
The Northern GT Club members’ car cruise for
the month of March was to 'Claredale Pastures'
at the old Mio College, near the township of
Clare. Clare is about one hour's drive south east
of Townsville (off the main highway) and makes an ideal car cruise for both the Townsville
and Burdekin members to catch for lunch.
