School Cluster Manager (Half-time) Position Description Overview: Generations Incorporated works to increase the literacy skills of young children through grade three. We also recruit and train a cadre of older adults to be literacy volunteers to support our programs. Our programs get results and make a difference in the lives of children and older adults who serve them. As an affiliate of AARP Experience Corps, we deliver nationally recognized, sustainable programs directly to Greater Boston public schools and after- school programs. We are the leading intergenerational program in the region. Our volunteers are called AARP Experience Corps Volunteers (ECVs). Generations Incorporates is in the midst of implementation of a three year strategic plan called Read to Succeed. Cluster Managers play a key leadership role in the organization and are have significant responsibility for implementation of Read to Succeed. The Cluster Manager is responsible for managing our literacy programs in a cluster of four schools. Responsibilities include: volunteer management, training, and supervision, ensuring program fidelity, working to meet program goals for the cluster, developing strong collaborative relationships with school partners, developing leadership skills of the site team leaders. Responsibilities: Volunteer Management Work with principals, literacy specialists and classroom teachers to ensure that they understand the intent and goals of our programs and to ensure that they have an understanding of how to work with older volunteers in the classroom Supervise and lead a team of 4 Site Team Leaders (STLs) and approximately 60 ECVs Adapt and develop systems to ensure that the sites are well managed on a day to day basis Ensure consistency and program fidelity among the schools Collaborate with other Cluster Managers Collaborate closely with the Director of Volunteer Management and Director of Volunteer Training in order to obtain training needed by ECVs Assist/support the STLs in evaluating ECVs at sites and solve any ECV issues that arise efficiently Review school data regularly for management purposes Collaborate with school leaders about how our organization can support family engagement efforts Ensure that monthly reports and time sheet submissions are timely and accurate Establish system for making sure that communication between the central office and sites is timely and concise

Quality Assurance

With STLs, participate in observations of ECVs in classrooms and obtain regular feedback from teachers

and literacy staff

With STLs, monitor the one-on-one reading program

Collaborate with the Literacy Specialist, Director of Training and others to pilot evaluation systems

Review monthly reports to ensure accuracy

Ensure that all AARP Experience Corps evaluation surveys and member progress reviews are completed

thoughtfully and accurately

With STL and with support from the Director of Volunteer Management, evaluate performance of ECVs

Organizational Support

Participate in weekly staff meeting and monthly leadership Friday meeting

Represent GI in the community

Qualifications

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership and management experience to achieve results

Masters degree in education or management preferred, Bachelors required

Demonstrated ability to motivate professional staff and volunteers

Excellent “people skills” and respect for people of all ages: ability to work with a diverse group of

community partners, volunteers and staff

Excellent time management and delegation skills

Strong technology skills (email, data entry, word processing); willingness to learn Salesforce data base

Ability to be flexible, keep a sense of humor, stay positive, and solve problems creatively

Car strongly encouraged as traveling from school to school is necessary

Salary and Benefits Salary position, part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) for 11 months (no work in the month of July.) Flexible hours, generous personal time and paid holidays. Monthly travel reimbursement and retirement plan provided.
