Gravitons in the Diphoton Channel

Randall-Sundrum (RS) models propose to resolve the hierarchy problem of the SM with a warped extra dimension of space.

Gravity scale = MPl exp(-krc) ~TeV; for krc ~11-12, no hierarchy prob

Gravitons in this model appear as high mass resonances, mn = xn k exp(-krc), J1(xn)=0

The masses and widths determined by the parameters M1 and k

We probe the discovery of RS gravitons in the diphoton channel

Studies published in PTDR:

10 fb-1: MG > 3.5 TeV for c=0.1; MG > 1.3 TeV for c=0.01

Updated results with latest software

Discovery Reach

Limits: With 50/pb, can exclude a RS graviton up to M1=1.3 TeV, k=0.1; with 100/pb, ccan exclude up to M1=1.4 TeV, k=0.1

Discovery Reach: With as little as 20/pb, we can claim discovery if M1<1.0 TeV, k=0.1; With 100/pb, we can claim discovery for M1<1.25 TeV, k=0.1

We have the possibility of an early discovery for this channel and we are participating in an 50/pb CMS “early papers” exercise
