NeTwork DeveloPmeNT
The cluster combines the skills of strong regional partners from all parts of the rail technology supply chain in its network, thereby boosting their global competitiveness.
maNagemeNT NeTwork
The network fosters communication on many levels by holding lectures and workshops on current topics and providing contacts and information via its catalogue of experts on the Internet as well as through CNA’s head office. CNA also tries to facilitate additional synergies for its members by cooperating with other clusters and supra-regional networks.
NeTwork markeTiNg
We organise supra-regional events on specific topics in which our members can claim to be leading players, e.g. the Slab TrackSymposium held in Brussels and the RFID Symposium, aimed atraising the network’s profile outside Bavaria and further enhancing its positive image.
Projects and topics:
¬ Developing new diesel electric drives for rail vehicles
¬ Exploring the potential of rail logistics and infrastructure using Galileo
¬ Promoting innovative drives for trams
¬ Optimising road-rail links
¬ Improving rail’s chances against road traffic on the market
¬ Satellite navigation for rail technology

bavaria‘s ClusTer oFFeNsive
For years now, Bavarian economic and technological policy has promoted major areas of technological competence and key sectors. The ‘cluster offensive’ within the framework of the Bayern Innovativ alliance is the continuation of Bavaria’s successful innovation policy. Clusters, covering 17 sectors and areas of competence of special importance to the Bavarian eco-nomy, are further stepping up the creation of networks between businesses, universities, research institutes and service pro-viders. CNA has been placed in charge of managing the rail technology cluster
objeCTives
The aim of working in clusters is to enhance our partners’ com-petitive standing in two ways: firstly by boosting their capacity for innovation and productivity, and secondly by simultaneouslystriving to tie companies to Bavaria and build brands. The crucial factor behind such an effort is success in linking up the worlds of science and business more effectively.

The four steering groups – made up of representatives from in-dustrial companies and transport operators, or from the worlds of science and politics – initiate innovative projects on promising topics. In so doing they significantly shape and secure the future of Bavaria‘s rail technology sector.
The Railway Technology Cluster supports its members in their search for specialised partners within the initiative “go-cluster“ in Germany and other European countries within the framework of the ERCI Network of which it is a founding member. Meanwhile, eleven European clusters have joined the European Railway Clusters Initiative (ERCI).
