CNC Spindle Repair
Motor City Machine Tool Repair specializes in remanufacturing spindles for CNC machine tools for Machining Centers,Turning Centers & High Frequency Grinders. Some of the most popular brands we service are: BRYANT, ENSHU, SETCO, MAZAK, HARDINGE, MASTER, WHITNON, KITAMURA, MOORE, NIIGATA, SETCO, UVA, PARKER, POPE, GAMFIOR, NTC, GMN, and literally hundreds and hundreds more. All Quotations are 100% free of charge and are accompanied by a detailed failure analysis report as well as the scope of work needed to bring your unit back to the OEM spec. We hire only the most experienced technicians. Many of whom worked directly for foreign and domestic OEMs. All spindles are fully tested and ran at maximum rpm.
Warranty: 1 Full Year after installation Standard: 1-3 Weeks ARO Emergency Repairs: 2-5 Days (Excessive wear requiring GPG may add additional lead time)
Spindle Repair Testing
Motor City Spindle Room
All spindles rebuilt by Motor City Machine are test run to maximum rpm. Spindles are initially rotated at 5% of maximum speed while bearing temperatures & vibration signatures are checked and digitally recorded. Once all test readings past specification the rpm is increased by 10% intervals until maximum rpm is achieved. Vibration signatures are recorded and documented each step of this run in process. After all vibration signatures and balance readings past inspection at maximum rpm the spindle is ran for an additional 1-2 hours. Draw bars are actuated and tested for proper pull force retention and these readings are taken digitally and recorded. Only after all bearing temperature readings, vibration signatures, balance, draw bar pull force retention, and sensors are within specification is the unit approved for shipment.

Spindle Balancing and Spindle / Draw Bar Tes3ng
All Spindles are fully test run and balanced at max rpm. Draw bar pull force is tested to be at OEM Specifica=on. All tes=ng data is documented and available for the customers review.
• Rotate spindle on test stand directly from motor leads to one of our variable frequency drive or external motor at (5%) of
maximum rpm. • Run spindle for 30 minutes while con=nuously checking all spindle bearing temperatures do not exceed 120 degrees. • If any spindle bearing temperature exceeds 120 degrees stop spindle and allow it to cool to ambient temperature or
completely cool below 80 degrees. • Take vibra=on readings of all spindle bearings signatures and verify they are with in the oem specifica=on. • Take balance readings of the spindle assembly in both the front and rear bearings loca=ons and verify proper balance. • If all spindle bearing temperatures remain below 120 degrees, bearing signatures and balance are all within oem
specifica=on then increase spindle rpm by 5%.
• Repeat this en=re process by increasing rpm at intervals of (10%) the maximum rpm un=l maximum rpm is achieved. If at any =me any spindle bearing temperature exceeds 120 degrees stop the spindle and allow the bearing temperature for the en=re spindle to drop to ambient temperature or below 80 degrees. Repeat this process again un=l maximum rpm is achieved.
• Once maximum rpm is achieved all spindles are test run for an addi=onal (2) hours. Both front and rear (or top and boQom) spindle bearing vibra=on signatures are verified to be within specifica=on. Balance is also rechecked and verified to be within specifica=on.
• All spindle tes=ng procedures are documented and available for the customers review. The final inspect results are printed and placed both inside the container the spindle is shipped in. They are also stapled to the outside of the contained and can be emailed upon request.
