Documentaries

In the years 2005 & 2006, the company produced several documentaries on various subjects related to Power Sector which were telecasted on DD National.

1) "Hydropower and India"Documentary film entitled "Hydropower and India" focuses on the present power scenario in the country and emphasizes hydropower as the renewable source of energy. This effort will create the true benefits of hydropower and promote successful practice relating to the sustainable use of hydropower as the most important form of renewable source of power supply in India and address the technical, economical environment and social issues which prevent the optimum use of hydropower in India. 2) "Harsud-Ek Sawal"Harsud, a tehsil headquarter town in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, is submerged due to Indirasagar dam which brought a million of people to resettle from their ancestral home in the region. Dam construction has both the facets of life- the positive and the negative. Our documentary is a sincere and humble effort to portrait the both sides of the coin, presenting to the nation, a solution towards an accelerated development, keeping human values as its top priority. 3) "NHDC-The Glory of Madhya Pradesh"Narmada Hydro development Corporation Ltd. (NHDC) the joint venture of NHPC and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, has shown its excellence by commissioning five of its 125MW units of Indira Sagar Project (1000MW) in a record time and 8 to 11 months to the lead of schedule. Documentary film thus depicts NHDC family, with its dedication, hard work and expertise, setting the basis for progress and prosperity of not only the corporation but also Madhya Pradesh and its nearby regions. 4) "Indian Power Sector Reforms"In the present context, power sector reforms require a greater importance. Reforms in power sector have been gradual and continuous. In 1991, we took the first major step towards liberalization and power sector reforms. Here, the Central govt. has played a proactive role. Rationalization of tariff has been a major issue of reforms. Govt. has also emphasized on reorganization of the activities of power generation, transmission and distribution in order to bring about greater accountability in functioning of the utilities.

There is a significant potential of energy savings through energy efficiency and demand side management measures. A national campaign for bringing about awareness about energy conservation would be essential to achieve efficient consumption of electricity. The film covers all the aspects of Energy Conservation and Efficiency and is a sincere effort to bring about awareness among the people regarding energy conservation. 7) "Ek Sankalp“The programme "Ek Sankalp" on energy conservation was an info-educative programme highlighting the importance of electricity in our life. This programme was an effective mode of presentation for common people at large, the objective of energy efficiency program to lower customer bill and help hold down electricity price spikes during periods of high demand system and also to improve the reliability of the electric system by reducing customer demand at peak hour, thereby easing the stress on overloaded generation, transmission and distribution systems. 8) "Revival of Dabhol“After years of struggle to find a solution to Dabhol, the Govt. did finally manage to succeed which would spell relief and hope for power-starved consumers of Maharashtra. The revival of Dabhol power project is one of the most important achievements of the UPA Govt. which will boost up the private investment in Indian Power Sector.
