Area Chair’s Report February 2018
Greetings everyone. February is always an exciting time of year in General Service. At the Area Committee meeting this month, our delegate, Mike, will be distributing the background information for the 2018 General Service Conference agenda items. You groups can use this information to come up with your informed group conscience to share with Mike at the Pre-Conference Assembly in April. Even more exciting news is that that all of the background information will also be translated into Spanish and French. Look for the translated information in March. There will be a number of Agenda Workshops in our area before the Pre-Conference Assembly. Check cnia.org for more information. Also, don’t forget about the Pacific Region Alcoholics Anonymous Service Assembly (PRAASA) in Sparks, NV March 2–4, 2018. PRAASA is a great opportunity to learn more about General Service and meet GSRs and DCMs from all over the nine western states. In service, Jenn D. Chair Panel 68

District Reports
D11 – Larry W, DCM – District 11 Report for December Planning ACM
Two new GSRs, with one in the wings. Last month I omitted the two or three new GSRs that we had. More than half of these are new, not replacements. Seems like groups are (re)discovering the benefits of having a GSR. Finalized plans for our Concepts Workshop on January 14. We are using the bigger room next door for the two hour Workshop,
followed by our normal meeting. Early indicators are promising for a full house. Turnover for next Panel's Officers is going smoothly. Discussion among the new officers has already addressed planning the appointed chairs. It has been a pleasure to serve as DCM. I have pinch–hit for previous DCMs several times at both Assemblies and ACMs and despite those years of giving reports, I am still afraid of the Mic. But I have learned that no matter how bored I am of repetitive comments, I can NOT call the question if it is not yet a motion!
D15 – Eloy M DCM – On Monday November 27th District 15 held its monthly meeting with 17 members present. We opened the meeting with a presentation on Concept XI by Janelle. Group reports by 11 GSR's and introduction were heard. Mom's group is still meeting with still no permanent location.
The committee moved quickly, after the introduction of Jenn D., CNIA 07 Alternate Chair, to Panel 68 elections for District 15. The Third Legacy voting and eligibility to vote were explained. Each member making themselves available for a position gave a verbal resume. Elections completed with a big thank you to Jenn for her service. The new District 15 officers and chairs are as follows: Colleen H – DCM, Craig H – Alt DCM, LisAnne T – Treasurer, Martha W – Recording Secretary, Martha T – Registrar, John C – Web Chair, Janelle H – PI/CPC Chair, Milton G – BTG Chair, Mike H – Archives Chair, the only vacancy was Grapevine Chair.
With time running short we
CNIA Area Accents page 4 February 2018
moved to intergroup reports and then to new business of submitting a bid for one of the 2019 Assemblies, which was a unanimous yes. Last was the change in December meeting to the 18th since the normal meeting date is Christmas Day.
As always event flyer's can be found on our web site calendar aabutte-glenn.org.
So here we are at the end of Panel 66, I will take away from my service with the area and district, what was described in the big book as, friendships that are unique and priceless. With the spirit of rotation and a desire to continue carrying the message of AA, I know that our paths will cross again.
Thank you for allowing me to grow in service as the DCM for district 15.
I am proud to serve in any capacity to A.A.
D19 – Roy G, DCM – D19 met on the 2nd of December 518 12th Street Marysville. All groups reporting, doing well. Attendance has been down in most groups. We held our District Inventory and want to thank Marianne H for facilitating this event for us. Election Results were shared with GSR’s. Its been and honor and a privilege serving D19 as DCM. This experience over the last two years on this panel has been quite rewarding serving with you.
D21 Bob DCM – Our business meeting was held Tuesday November 28th, with 14 GSR’s/Alternates, 8 District Officers, and 3 members–at–large in attendance. Meeting highlights
include: PI/CPC is planning a workshop for Placer County mental health professionals and also beginning discussions on how to broaden outreach to paramedics. BTG carried its message of hope for the first time ever into the Placer County jails! Follow–on District election saw Craig C. elected to fill the vacant Registrar position. The District’s proposed 2018 spending plan was approved unanimously. Consensus is to deferring to the next panel any action on allocating surplus District funds. Outreach efforts to non–represented groups continue, with emphasis on lining up GSR’s for the next panel. Other key events include: Assembly Chair Julie B. conducted our latest planning meeting for the 2018 Winter Assembly on Saturday December 2nd. A panel presentation and discussion on “Safety in A.A.” was held on Saturday December 9th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Auburn Fellowship. Safety cards were made available. In closing, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve for the last two years as District Committee Member for District 21. I am especially grateful for all the support I’ve received from a very active set of officers and GSR’s, and also from my service sponsor.
D25 – Tim K, DCM – Merry Christmas from the merry ol' land of district 25.
All is going well, we have voted in a new DCM, David L. and wish him the very best going forward, knowing that the district is in good hands. Alkathons are going to be going on throughout the districts, this includes... Midtown Solutions,
Group Three ....where the best food is to be found. Elk Grove Fellowship, from 6 pm Christmas Eve thru Christmas Day until 8pm – these will be taking place for New Year’s as well. And that pretty much wraps it up. Thank you to everyone here in the panel, whom i love. God bless you all, god bless CNIA, Merry Christmas !!!
D29 – Deanna – Alt DCM – We had our district elections and it was a pretty good turnout. DCM – Diana L. (Myself), Alt. DCM – Tony, Treasurer – Richard, Recording Secretary – Carl, PI/CPC – Ken, Grapevine Rep. – Ian, Registrar – Ron B. All positions filled for the new panel . except for H&I and BTG. District meeting will be held on Dec. 18th @ 6:30 due to Xmas holiday.
D30 – Greg N – DCM – It was a pleasure to serve with you this last several years and I will see you as we trudge this road. ...
D33 – Gina M, DCM – We held our business on Dec.11th with 20 people in attendance. We did all over our regular reports and closed the meeting and had a potluck with outgoing GSR’s and District panel Members and some in coming GSR’s and District panel Members. I would also like to thank D21 for asking me to speak on the panel and their Safety Workshop.
D34 – Betty Ann DCM– The Northern California Accessibility Committee is an Alcoholics Anonymous service committee dedicated to helping make AA accessible to all. We last met on Saturday December 9 at the Sunset No-Al Club (Gibbons

Alano) in Carmichael starting at 10am. We discussed placing a PayPal contribution button on our website and agreed to do so. It should be up within a few days. We reviewed a proposed flyer detailing a new approach to serving the deaf alcoholic community and suggested revisions. We held elections with myself being elected Chairperson, Rick K as Treasurer and Lauren K as Secretary.
D41–Trish DCM – Happy Holidays! My name is Keith S., I’m an alcoholic and I have had the honor and pleasure of being a trusted servant for District 41 as DCM for these past two years. District 41 held its most recent business meeting Wednesday the 13th at the Alano Club in Fresno with 8 of us in attendance. Pizza was brought in by Morning Maintenance's GSR Kris S. and there were plenty of other snacks too. District finances are in pretty good shape following the Treasurers hand–off and the transfer of the District account to a new financial institution. A motion carried to increase our prudent reserve to an amount which will eliminate any service charges there. Our B.T.G. Chair Lisa B. has recruited new volunteers both male and female for helping to make our BTG contacts transition to the outside world of AA. She is also looking forward to working with other Fresno Area District BTG Chairs. Our e–services Guru Josh G. will be working with the Fresno Intergroup’s Web Master to bring the Meeting Guide App. to our local area. Tonight I will be attending a fund raiser for the Fresno Central Office entitled “It’s A Wonderful Life–Holiday
Soiree” with a Speaker Meeting, dinner, fellowship and a dance. Every year the Fresno Intergroup sponsors a Christmas Eve–Christmas day 24 hour Alcathon. This year District 41 is getting into the act by hosting the Twelve Noon, Christmas Day time slot. I’m looking forward to that. Other than that, not a great deal to report with elections being over and this panel coming to a close. For the coming year, my intentions are to file a Fresno Intergroup Liaison Report on a monthly basis for the ACM’s and the Assemblies, coming in person whenever I can. I will of course be there for the Post Conference Assembly in Clovis in May, as well as at PRAASA (as a good ol’ member at large” in March. I hope to see everyone there!
D42 – Mike – District 42 Meeting is held the 2nd Monday of each month at Bethany Church in Fresno. District finances are healthy and we are withholding our contributions to Area and General Service Office pending outgoing expenses for the 2018 Post Conference Assembly. Elections were held and all District positions are filled. Our new DCM is Mike D. All groups are doing well and many had elections for service positions. Some groups will be hosting alcathons over Christmas and New Years. Intergroup held elections and filled their service positions. Our very own Keith is the new Intergroup Chair. PI/CPC – Has been having excellent participation. Their meeting is held on the 3rd Monday of the month at Central Office. They will be holding an orientation for new volunteers this month. Post Conference
Assembly is progressing well. Just FYI: New District 42 officers. Mike D., DCM. Robert H., Alt DCM. John C., Treasurer. Sue M., Recording Secretary. Tommy R., Registrar and H&I. Archives – Jeff– It has been such an honor to serve this panel as archives chair. It has enhanced
my sobriety so much. Thank you for allowing me to be of service. December was busy at the archives. I had 3 members from Jackson come and bring some items that they needed preserved and as they were loo king through their dist file they found the minutes from the first meeting in their district. They were very excited and made a copy for their archive. the dist 27 Archives chair came to learn how to digitize their stuff. I also showed her how to pass it on in the spirit of rotation. There were
also 5 visitors from dist 37. We all enjoyed a lunch of lasagna and got lots of work done.

G.S.R. Preamble
We are the General Service Representatives. We are the link in the chain of communication for our groups with the General Service Conference and the world of A.A.
We realize that the ultimate authority in A.A. is a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. As trusted servants, our job is to bring information to our groups in order that the group can reach an informed group conscience. Passing along this group conscience we are helping to maintain the unity and strength so vital to our fellowship.
Let us, therefore, have the patience and tolerance to listen while others share, the courage to speak up when we have something to share, and the wisdom to do what is right for our groups and A.A. as a whole.
