Counseling Skills
• Genuineness- Being true, real, and authentic.
• Respect- To show esteem or honor to another person. Whether it is deserved or not!
• Empathy- Mentally entering into the feeling or spirit of another person.
• Concreteness- Actual substantive realities as opposed to abstract ideas.
• Content- The substance of spoken words.
• Feelings- The emotions behind the spoken words.
• Confrontation (Challenging) - To bring together for examination or comparison.
• Self-disclosure- The revelation of something personal by the counselor in order to establish rapport or credibility with the counselee.
• Immediacy- Direct presence.
