This catalogue presents profiles of the German companies active in the offshore wind energy sector, associated within the Wind Energy Network, which participated in the business mission to Poland, on 13 – 14 of March, 2013. Key part of the business mission was the networking seminar held on 13 of March, in Marriott Hotel, in Warsaw.

The business mission and seminar constitute the cross-border business meeting, held within the South Baltic Offshore Energy Regions project, part-financed by European Union, within the cross-border cooperation “South Baltic Program” (European Regional Development Fund).

South Baltic OFFER is an international project implemented in 2010-2013 by institutions and or-ganizations engaged in promoting offshore wind energy development in five countries of the South Baltic Region, i.e. Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania and Poland. Leading partner of the project is the Rostock Business and Technology Development GmbH. Polish Offshore Wind Energy Society is one of the project partners in Poland. The main objective of the project is to identify industry potential, in terms of production and service offer related to offshore wind energy, in the regions represented by project partners. The South Baltic OFFER project aims to develop and strengthen cross-border co-operation among regional networks associating producers and suppliers of equipment and services for offshore wind farms.

Ökosystemforschung GmbHThe Institute of Applied Ecology has analysed terrestrial and aquatic habitats and ecosystems for more than 15 years. Founded in 1993 as a private research organization, the institute specializes on environmental monitoring, providing both public agencies and private companies with expert ecological consulting services. While most of our activities are carried out on the German Baltic coast, we are increasingly engaged in nation-wide and international projects. Our staff includes experts in the full range of scientific and engineering disciplines. Within an es-tablished network of international partners, we are committed to developing innovative ideas to understand the complexity of the natural environment and to assess human-caused environmental impacts. KGW Schweriner Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH emanated from a company with a tradition reaching back to 1948, and with business activities focused on the production and delivery of deck machinery, such as cranes, winches and steering gear, for almost 60 years. Since 1993 towers for wind power plants are the main products of the energy and environment business division. Depending on the requirements of the windmill manufacturer, KGW towers can be equipped com-pletely. In addition, machine supports can be delivered.About 250 tubular steel towers are manufactured and delivered annually.Numerous references from German wind power plant manufacturers vouch for KGW towers. But also in other places of the world the application of towers made by KGW has proven successful, e. g. in Argentina, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Rumania, Bulgaria, Italia, Hun-garian and the USA.

Sika Deutschland GmbH

Sika is a globally active specialty chemicals company operating in seven target markets: Concrete, Waterproofing, Roofing, Flooring, Sealing and Bonding, Refurbishment and Industry. Sika solutions encompass high-quality concrete admixtures, specialty mortars, sealants and ad-hesives, damping and reinforcing materials, structural strengthening systems, flooring as well as roofing and waterproofing systems. Concrete producers, specialized applicators and builder’s mer-chants have their own special demands. The Sika Deutschland GmbH Protective Coatings business unit in Vaihingen/Enz develops, pro-duces and markets high quality coatings for corrosion, tank and fire protection. The market field wind energy is one of our main application areas:Products for wind energy turbines on- and offshore, for foundation, tower, nacelle, hub and rotor blade, for concrete, steel, composites and even timber towers. Whether at land or sea, Sika prod-ucts are protecting wind energy converters around the world, offering optimum safety and quality. From foundations through steel or concrete towers to machine housings and rotor blades, we supply systems designed to give a long lifetime. Especially “offshore” the anti-corrosion coatings must last for a long time without maintenance despite the widest variety of stresses such as permanent water, water changes and splash water in a maritime atmosphere, extreme temperature fluctuations, harsh UV effects or permanent me-chanical effects and abrasion. Comprehensive rules and regulations specially drawn up for this, for example from the oil drilling industry (e. g. for the coating systems used on drilling plat-forms), sim-ulate these extreme conditions and provide the operators with security when selecting products.
