Social Media• Collegiate Coaching Staffs pay close attention to twitter, instagram… etc.

• Tweets/Likes/Retweets with profanity, references to drugs etc. can ruin your son’s opportunity.

PracticeOnce the season starts in the fall, we will practice even if we don’t have school during the week

(Labor Day, etc.)

Representing The Vikings • Players must avoid doing anything that would embarrass themselves, the school, the team or

their family.

• Take care of the athletic facilities.

• Use your locker – they should lock up their belongings at all times.

Depth ChartsPre-Season depth charts are just a starting point, how the athlete performs in practice and in games

is what will determine where your son ranks.

Players / Parents / Coaches: How We Must Work Together

• Coaches:Communication with the player regarding where he stands within the program.

Clearly defined expectations.

Give constant feedback to the player on his progress.

Make decisions on what’s best for the team 1st / individual 2nd.

• Players:Be coachable.

Perform to the best of their ability.

Put ego aside.

Understand that they represent this program 24-7-365.

Compete in everything that we do.

Communicate directly with position coach .

• Parents:Support (not necessarily agreement) at home.

Please do not coach/communicate with your son from the stands.

Encourage your son to speak to their position coach if he has questions or concerns (this is

great real – life training).

• Allow your sons to deal with adversity

D H S A T H L E T I C T R A I N I N G R O O M R U L E S1. No profanity. Be respectful and courteous to one another.

2. Getting better is your responsibility. Come to treatments with a purpose to get better. There is no reason for you to be in the

training room if you are not receiving treatments. Come prepared to work and always come dressed appropriately for treatments .

3. No cleats. Remove them before entering the room.

4. You must attend the morning treatment as well as the afternoon treatment if you are injured. (NO A.M., NO P.M.) You are

responsible for getting to the training room in time for events. Never use the training room or athletic trainers as an excuse for

missing an athletic-related event.

5. All therapeutic modalities must be applied by a staff member. This is NOT a self-treating facility.

6. Electrical stimulation and ultrasound are not cure-alls. Do not expect to be hooked up to a machine every time you come in for

treatment. An athlete should expect a sound treatment protocol which consists of exercise, stretching and various modalities as

prescribed by athletic training staff.

7. Continue all treatment until your athletic trainer releases you. Do not stop treatments just because your injury feels better .

8. Our goal is to give the athlete the best possible treatment for their injuries. If you don’t “BS” us with your injury, we won’t “BS”

with your treatment plan.

9. The athletic training room is not a lounge. Get your treatment and leave to make room for other student-athletes and staff.

10. Food and drink are not allowed in athletic training room.

The following are heat illness symptoms and treatments recommended by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (2016). We urge you to help

keep our athletes protected by better understanding the symptoms, treatment and prevention of concussions.

• A concussion is defined as a “trauma-induced altercation in mental status that may or may not involve loss of consciousness”

• This can be caused by a bump or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that cause the head and brain to move quickly back and forth.

• Concussion signs and symptoms can appear immediately or not be noticed until days or even weeks after the injury.
