• Invite your co-worker, friend or family member to join your team by sending an email through your dashboard.

• Kick-start your team’s fundraising efforts by making a personal donation.
Get Digital• Connect your fundraiser to Facebook through your Heart Walk Dashboard.
• Download the Heart Walk mobile app to easily text your friends for donations and stay connected to your team’s progress.3
1. Visit www.BrowardHeartWalk.org Click Register to Join Heart Walk
2. Click Start a Team if you want to be a coach and recruit walkers to your team.
3. If you are a returning participant click yes and enter your login information. If you do not remember it, you can have it sent to you!
4. Choose your company from the drop-down (if your company is not listed
contact your American Heart Association partner).
5. Enter a Team Name and fundraising goal.
6. Enter a personal fundraising goal (consider being a top walker and raising $1,000!).
7. Make an extraordinary impact by making your personal GIFT. You can make your donation with a credit card or PayPal. If you would like to make a donation at another time, click not at this time.
8. Tell us about you: • Fill in your contact information. •Createaloginifthisisyourfirsttimeregistering. • Enter your t-shirt size. • Let us know if you would like to be recognized as a survivor of cardiovascular disease. • Let us know if you are a heart disease and/or stroke survivor. • Waiver: Click the button that you accept the waiver.
9. Click Next Step.Ifyouhavemadeadonationthenextpagewillallowyoutofinishthat donation. Then click Complete Registration.
10. Your Personal Dashboard will appear. From this location you can: • Customize your personal page by uploading a photo and sharing your WHY. • Customize your team personal page by uploading a photo. • Send emails to friends and family asking them to support the American Heart Association. • Post to social networks inviting your friends to donate.

Social MediaYou can utilize social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, to recruit walkers and ask for donations. Log in to your Heart Walk Headquarters to connect your fundraiser and follow the steps to invite your friends, share updates and collect donations.
Fundraise viaHeart Walk MobileSearch Heart Walk in the App Store to download the new Heart Walk mobile app to access your participant center on the go, easily communicate with your team via text and even deposit checks. Click on the social media icons from your personal page and log in to post directly to your socialchannels.
Fundraise with LinkedInYou have lots of contacts on LinkedIn who are not in your day-to-day address book. The Heart Walk is a wonderful reason to reach out to ask for contributions.

• Click the My Network icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
• Click Your Connections “See All” on the left rail.
• Click “Manage Synced” and Imported Contacts near the top right of the page.
• Under Advanced actions on the right rail, click “Export contacts”. (You may be prompted to sign into your account)

• Click “Request Archive”.
• You will receive an email to your Primary Email address which will include a link where you can download your connections.

Jeans/Casual Day: For a donation of $5, employees dress casual on a designated day. Or, sell a year’s worth of Jeans Day privileges for $100, or one month for $25.
Team Spirit Day: For a donation of $5, employees wear a jersey, t-shirt, sweatshirt or cap of their favorite sports team.
Clean Out The Corporate Closet: Offer employees the opportunity to purchase excess inventory items such as coffee mugs, t-shirts, lap top computerbags,etc.,withsalesbenefitingtheAHA.
Collection Of “Extra Change” Near The Register In The Cafeteria
Drawing For Gift Certificates, Tickets, Or Prime Parking Space At The Office: For a donation of aspecificdollaramount,donorisenteredintodrawing.
Used CD/Book Sale
Coffee or Bagel Days: Sell coffee or bagels on certain days of the week. You can charge a little extra for each because it is for a good cause - the American Heart Association!
Car Wash
Break A Balloon Contest: Buy a dart for $1-$5 and throw it at a wall of balloons to collect the prize inside. Prizes can include casual days, prime parkingspots,freelunch,giftcertificates,etc.
Recognition Day: Sell balloons, flowers,cards,etc.tobegiventoaco-worker on a designated day as a show of thanks or appreciation.
Manager Job Switch Sale: For an hour, day or after noon.
Manager Shoe Shine
Jail A Manager: Place a management employee “under arrest,” charging $1-$5 a minute to keep him/her in jail.
Cook Off: Charge an entry fee and donation to AHA to cast your vote.
Golf Tournament, Putting Contest Or Longest Drive With A Marshmallow Contest
Executive Dunk Tank Or Pie Throwing Event: Employees make a donation to the AHA for each toss.
Personal Letter Writing/Email Campaign: See your “Guide for Corporate Team Captains” for sample letters.
Relaxation Day: Bring in a massage therapist to perform neck and back massages for a donation to the AHA.
Meeting Or Workshop “Etiquette Rules”: Fine co-workers a $1 or $5 donation to the AHA for arriving late, not turning off cell phones, having side conversations, etc.
Lunch With The Boss: Employees who made a donation to the AHA are entered into a drawing for lunch with a top level executive.
Live, Silent Or Online Auction
Manager Cook Out: For a $10 donation, employees dine of food prepared by the management team.
Special Event: If you have a birthday or anniversary approaching, host a party and ask that guests provide you with a donation to the AHA in lieu of gifts.
A Day of Silence For AHA: Accept pledges to silence an “exuberant” employee for a day.

To enter a cash or check donation, go to your Heart
Walk Headquarters and click the Enter Donations button.
Once entered, turn in your donation to your American
Heart Association staff member and let them know
the donation has already been entered on the Heart
Walk website.

How we celebratesurvivorsHeart disease and stroke survivors are the heart of the Heart Walk! Survivors will be wearing a commemorative red or white baseball cap, and will be celebrated throughout the day. We even have special superhero capes for our youngest survivors. Encourage survivors to stop by the survivor tent to pick up their cap or cape and fill out a tribute sticker.
Who are survivors?A survivor is anyone who has survived a stroke or any form of heart disease, like heart attack, cardiac arrest, heart failure, an irregular heartbeat, heart valve problems, high blood pressure or congenital heart defects.
