International Development through Excellence and Leadership in Sport International Development through Excellence and Leadership in Sport (IDEALS) is a UK Sport programme, delivered in partnership with University of Bath and 2 Zambian NGO's Sports in Action & Edusport. A team of students from a number of UK universities visit Zambia each year, working in a sports development and coaching capacity in the heart of local communities. International Development through Excellence and Leadership in Sport (IDEALS) is a UK Sport programme, delivered in partnership with Universityof Bath and 2 Zambian NGO's Sports in Action &Edusport.

Sport has the power to:• improve fitness and health • highlight positive, healthy living • empower and inspire young children • improve life skills, such as decision-making,

organisation and leadership • highlight fair play & teamwork within communities • improve social inclusion • develop motivation, self development & self reliance

About Your Placement You will: • be allocated a community and schools to coach • build relationships with Zambian coaches and

peer leaders • have the chance to work at the Youth Olympic

Development Centre • have the opportunity to teach English • have the opportunity to assist Peer Leaders in

HIV / Aids education • organise school/community tournaments and

competitive events • travel to rural villages to deliver coaching sessions • there’s also a weekend trip to Livingstone to see

the spectacular Victoria Falls

What’s Included? • a 3-day UK-based induction • a 6-week volunteer placement with a Zambian NGO • return flights, including airport pick-up & drop-off

in Zambia • accommodation in the IDEALS house, Zambia • comprehensive orientation on arrival in Zambia • full support of UK Sport Team Leaders and NGO

staff based in Zambia

All placements are funded by group and individual fundraising activities that take place throughout the year before departure in June - September.
