She was a whistleblower against BNSF and won her case in Federal Court. A founding member and current International Steering Committee co-chair of Railroad Workers United (RWU), she has spoken at several conferences. RWU seeks to bridge the gap between labor and environmental concerns on safety issues. Twa-le Abrahamson, Spokane Tribal Air Quality Coordinator Twa-le has spoken at conferences and rallies on coal and oil, and testified at hearings on both. In 2012, she and KYRS radio won a Clean Air Excellence Award for her work on clean air and educating the reservation about it with her radio show, Inner Tribal Beats, on KYRS. Ben Stuckart, Spokane City Council President Ben led the City of Spokane to be the first on the West Coast to pass a resolution on oil trains. He has worked with other leaders on coal lease issues in Washington, D.C. and met with Secretary of Transportation Foxx to lobby on oil safety rules. A member of the Safe Energy Leadership Alliance, he has spoken at at least six rallies on coal and oil and two other coil forums. Eric de Place, Policy Director at Sightline Institute Eric spearheads Sightline Institute’s work on energy policy. He is known as a leading expert on coal and oil export plans in the Pacific Northwest, and he is considered an authority on a range of issues connected to fossil fuel transport.
