Introduction & Technology

• Coal is a burnable black or brownish-black sedimentary rock. • Composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. • Generally, dead vegetation got together under the water. • Were compressed & deposited.• Sediment and converted as the temperature & pressure went high.

• Finally, became the primary form of Coal.

Types are different ultimately due to the process how they formed of :o Anthracite, the highest rank of coalo Peato Ligniteo Sub-bituminous o Bituminous o Graphite

• The process involves biological and geological processes that take place over a long period.

• Coal is the largest source of energy for the generation of electricity worldwide

• Coal mining provides more than seven million jobs worldwide• Specifically, bituminous, another type of coal is used to be the

resource to realize chemical synthesis and make coke which has be developed to be smokeless fuel in coke oven.

Advantages of using coal as a source of energy

Coal is • The least expensive fossil fuel because it is rather simple to

mine.

• Powered generation scales well, making it economically possible to build a wide variety of sizes of generation plants.

• Easily combustible, and burns at low temperatures, making coal-fired boilers cheaper and simpler than fossil fuels.

• Abundant in quantity and can be easily transported to many areas of the world.

Disadvantages as a source of energy

Environmental impact:

• Aquifers pollution and surface subsidence.• Burning coal would produce many organic compounds and

harmful substance such as soot.• These substances can harm human and animals health, directly

to produce acid rain . • There are limited stocks of coal remaining – Coal is

non-renewable energy source

Page 6: Coal project

• Exploitation of coal need better technology and a lot of labor.• Coal mining has security hidden danger . Because , mining is

in deep under the ground .

If the release of toxic gases ,

the workers may be too late to escape .

40 years Of inspiring action

Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organization that acts to change attitudes and behavior, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace .

Greenpeace does not accept donations from

governments or corporations but relies on contributions from individual supporters

and foundation grants.

promote peace by: Challenging wasteful fishing, and creating a global network of marine reserves.

Protecting the world's forests and the animals, plants and people

Working for disarmament and peace by tackling the causes of conflict and calling for the elimination of all nuclear weapons.

Creating a toxic free future

Campaigning for sustainable agriculture

Right now ! Stop Destruction for Coal Action

The world doesn’t need more coal, it needs an Energy [R]evolution

CONCLUSION

Coal may have been essential in powering the Industrial Revolution, but now its time has passed. We must now bring about a revolution of another sort - one powered by clean, sustainable energy solutions that will protect our climate, health and environment now and for generations to come.

We support Action to stop global warming.
