The “Driving force of all nature /water supply & “Driving force of all nature /water supply & “Driving force of all nature /water supply & “Driving force of all nature /water supply &
distributiondistributiondistributiondistribution” project aims to reduce water loss
and protect the resources of water in the environ-
ment. Progress has already been made to assess
and validate water
losses and methods are
supplied for the eco-
nomic recovery of losses
in the distribution net-
work but developing new
protocols and discussing
them with (utility) man-
agers is not enough.
Utility personnel must
be trained with the new
methods, at all levels in the organisation but
particularly at the operational field level of techni-
cians. The proposed partnership will develop
training for utility employees on new methods to
improve the performance of water supply and
distribution systems.
The water loss issue will be addressed Europe
wide. Water is a valuable asset and will play a
more important role in the future. By training
people and sharing experiences, Europe will be
prepared to deal with water as efficiently and
effectively as possible.
Results New career pathways for talented operational
professionals will be created together with certifi-
cation programmes which give credentials for a
person’s knowledge. These professionals will be
able to work all over Europe.
The Project Together with stakeholders of the sector the follow-ing issues will be addressed:
• Integration in Bachelor/Masters education
• Integration in Maintenance Management
• Qualification and Certification
• Integration in Water supply and distribution companies
and for each subject the partnership will write a
position paper describing the state of the art; collect
best practices of methods, content and educational
tools.
The results will be a guide for the development of
competences of a Non-Revenue Water Reduction
expert.
