A Message from the Headteacher
As another summer term draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to a few people. Thank you to all parents and carers who continue to support our students day after day; the link between home and school needs to be close in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for our young people, and I am delighted that this relationship continues to go from strength to strength. Thank you also to our staff who have worked tirelessly again this year; your professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm in securing great life-chances for our students, within the classroom and beyond, never ceases to amaze me. Thank you to our neighbours who live beside the school; your patience while our students enjoyed our hugely successful annual sports day is appreciated. Thank you to our dedicated Governors and CSCA members; freely giving up many hours of your own time enables us to fulfil the many needs of a high performing school such as ours. And finally, thank you to our students who come into school ready to work hard and do their best each day; you are an important part of what makes our school such an amazing place in which to work. Enjoy the summer break and I look forward to welcoming you back into school on 4 September.

Cockermouth School annual summer Art Exhibition featured an enormous amount of talent from both A Level and GCSE students. The exhibition featured a variety of mediums covering the disciplines of fine art painting and
drawing, printmaking, ceramics, fashion and textiles, illustration, graphics, animation and photography. Work from all of our Year 13 students has been selected and will feature in The Arts Society Cumbria, A
Level exhibition held at Theatre by The Lake from 17 July to 4
September. Followed by a GCSE exhibition from 7 September to 8
October, which will feature work from our Year 11 Art & Graphics students.
Monday 25 June saw the annual Year 11 Prom take place at Greenhill Hotel, Wigton, where students and staff enjoyed a fabulous evening. Beautiful dresses, smart suits, glorious weather and five years of friendship made the evening a night to remember. Our thanks go to the staff at Greenhill Hotel, photographer Chris Lewis and our wonderful Year 11 students who represented the school impeccably.
A Taste of Game We had 30 students preparing pheasants which were provided by ‘Taste of Game’. A local Gamekeeper, Jack Depledge, came in to show the students how to prepare and cook the birds. The students then all made a Pheasant and Apple Bruschetta with horseradish mayonnaise. It was a fantastic morning and enjoyed by everyone, giving the students the opportunity to learn how to prepare and cook the birds and in many instances taste pheasant for the first time.

Four students from Cockermouth School were
recently selected to represent ESFK England at the
7th World Karate Championships in Dundee. Over 40
countries were involved with 2200 competitors taking
part. Cameron Clague Y8, sisters Emily and Charlotte
Craig Y9 and Adam Southern Y10 all travelled to
Scotland to take part in both the kata and kumite
categories. Congratulations to Cameron who was
placed 4th and to Charlotte and Emily who were
