The August 2012 proof run reaffirmed our progeny testing programme (Visions) as the most successful in the UK with two of our UK-proven bulls in the international top 10 thats two more than any other company!

My Asterix daughter is a tight uddered individual which we really like and she held back in-calf first time. She calved at two-year old and will calve her second at three. She is growing and maturing on well and the classifier said she has some of the best legs and feet he had ever seen. As an aggressive eater, she is always one of the first through the gate or into the parlour. She is a character who loves to be handled.

My favourite Azure was the highest producing heifer in the herd and gave 10,467kgs at 3.4%F, 3.2%P, she got back in-calf first time and calved again only 11 months later. She has now calved three times in under three years and is classified EX91. They are very robust, well-balanced cows which carry a little more condition and give a superb yield throughout lactation. Being great in cubicles, they are very easy to manage and are the type of cow you dont notice.

Goldmine is bred from the Pamela family at Hydaways, going back to Portlea Ned Pamela EX94. It is the strength and depth of this cow family which is transmitting through into Goldmines breeding. His daughters are stronger and wider than his sire, Goldwyn, but maintain the style, openness and sweep of rib. His daughters are capable of producing large quantities of milk and getting back in-calf easily. He is a bull which will suit both the pedigree dairy farmer and commercial herd environment. From what I have seen I would summarise the bull as a rare chance to be able to use a Goldwyn son who will transmit strength, production and overall ease of management.

I am milking two Mr Motivator heifers which both have excellent conformation - standing out from the rest of the herd and always looking the part. They are very similar, both very correct and carrying extra condition. They also have superb legs and feet with well attached udders and strong ligaments. As VG heifers they milk well averaging 28kgs/day at 4.67%F, 3.2%P and 4.5%F, 3.16%P respectively.

All in all, Im really pleased with them - they are both built to last and I will use the bull again.

Motivator is a bull which I admire and he is by far the most consistent bull that I have looked at in this job. His daughters are very strong, correct and maintain condition throughout lactation.

I like the width they possess from the muzzle through to the rump.

I have been extremely impressed with the Olympian daughters having now seen over 20 of them. They are very consistent; All being Black, clean boned, hard toped and moving on outstanding legs and feet. They are naturally high yielding animals and at the same time they maintain impressive kgs combined fat and protein. are trouble free cattle that get on with their daily

routine. I hardly notice them, which is what we

need as we are milking a lot of cows and spare

Daughters that I have seen are all balanced with very functional type. They have good chest width with plenty of heart room and open ribbed, deep bodies. Legs and feet are exceptional being very clean in the bone, not too straight and track well with excellent locomotion. Udders are phenomenal - they have very good attachments with a silky texture that is etched in veins. Rear udders are the best thing about Tiergans, being high and wide with a very strong ligament that look sure to stand the test of time. Farmers are delighted that daughters are recording extremely high fat and protein percentages. He is being used as a sire of sons and is the NO.1 UK proven PLI bull. My Tournament daughters are fantastic cattle to work with as they have excellent temperaments and are trouble free. When I first used Tournament I found that daughters milked so well and were so consistent, I decided to use him again. Now my current group of freshly calved heifers are all by Tournament. We have used him on Holsteins and pure Friesians and he has produced a very consistent group of heifers. They are more suited to our system, having taken the extreme stature out of the Holsteins, leaving me with easy to manage, functional cows.

The Tournament daughters I have seen are very similar to the bull himself. They are jet black, wide and very powerful. His progeny have got strength and width throughout, carry extra condition and have a large positive for milk on a Friesian base.

I have seen daughters from both Holsteins and Friesians and the bull really does stamp them.

Farmers have been extremely pleased with their Tournaments, commenting on their consistency and placid temperaments. His daughters have excellent legs and feet combined with high and wide rear udders.
