Coil coating: significant advantages

Coil coating offers significant advan-

tages over piecework coating: Coat -

ing is done in a continuous process

without interruptions. As the paint is

applied using the roller coating

method, there are practically no paint

losses. As a result material input is

significantly lower. At the same time

coil coating produces visually perfect

surfaces of consistent quality. In

short: Coil coating is the superior

coating method, both as regards effi-

ciency and quality.

The optimum system for any sub-

strate

Coil coating can be used for coating

different types of substrates – steel

of different conditions, galvanized

sheets and aluminum. The selection

of the substrate is based on defined

criteria. In this context, both the re-

quired properties of the end product

as well as the type of further process -

ing must be considered. Your advan-

The perfect basis: Primers from Brillux

Many coating build-ups consist of a

prime and a topcoat. In the coil coat -

ing process primers are also applied

to the pretreated substrate first. The

primer ensures reliable adhesion be -

tween the material to be coated and

the topcoat. Thus it ensures optimum

corrosion protection. In addition coil-

coating primers must be highly elas -

tic in order to withstand the me -

chanical impact during deformation.

The right primer makes the differ -

ence

When it comes to choosing a primer,

two questions need to be answered:

What type of substrate is to be coat -

ed? And: What type of topcoat will be

used? Brillux system product primers

on polyester or PUR basis are perfect-

ly adjusted to the different substrates

and top paint technologies, thus en-

suring optimum adhesion and reliable

corrosion protection. In addition they

are chromate-free, thus meeting the

highest environmental requirements.
