PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Falling leaves and the smell of wood smoke, fall is here in
Wildwood! We had a busy October and I want to thank everyone
who stepped up to help us bring some amazing opportunities to our
students. The Farm to School Salmon BBQ was outstanding, and the
freshest yet! Thank you to Gail Blaney, Amanda Zaikow and their
dynamic team of parents for catching and preparing the salmon fresh
that morning, as well as all those who prepped, served and cleaned
up after the delicious meal. The Halloween Carnival was another
success! Thank you to all who volunteered their time to run a game,
BBQ or serve the throngs of people that came out for an evening of
fun. Rhonda Gendron, April Dimond and Max Paquette...this year
was epic with the Halloween Carnival, Magical Forest and Haunted
House, thank you so much! Check the newsletter, the website or
download the YAPP APP to keep up to date on all the fun opportuni-
ties to help out at our active school.

Colder Weather = Warmer Clothes
Most days we will try to get the children outside for
some fresh air and exercise –almost never missing recess—so it is
very important that they are dressed for the weather. As the
weather gets worse, please remember to dress your kids appropri-
ately and remind them to wear proper outerwear and footwear for
the winter weather. Boots and rain jackets should be worn on a
rainy day, and insulated jackets, toques and mitts on cold days.
PHOTO RETAKE DAY
Lifetouch will be here for retakes on November 25th at 9 a.m. If
your child missed out on having his/her photo taken at the earlier session or
would like their photo retaken, this is a great opportunity to capture their
2015-2016 school year individual photo.
SCHOOL INITIATIVE
Reduce or eliminate the use of plastic bottles/drink boxes at school!
To ensure success of our school initiative, we will send home any disposable plastic containers and juice boxes brought by students.
We thank you for your support in advance!

PAC NEWS
Crunch&Sip®
After our first (pumpkin) soup lunch completed (special thanks to Maxime and his class!), we are looking forward
to potato-leek soup in two weeks time, as well as continuing this tradition on a bi-weekly basis. With this Farm-to
-School healthy eating initiative, we would also like to introduce Crunch&Sip®. Crunch&Sip®:
a set break for your child to eat fruit or salad vegetables and drink water in the classroom.
this gives kids a chance to refuel (kind of like putting gas in a car).
Why Crunch&Sip®?
The benefits of the ‘Crunch:
Increases fruit and vegetable consumption, and prevents students from going hungry during long lesson times.
Helps students to develop the habit of eating fresh fruit and vegetables every day, which
helps children's growth and development, and protects them against disease later in life.
Encourages students to try different types of fruit and vegetables that they may not usually eat.
Parents receive consistent nutritional messages about fruit, vegetables and water .
Why Crunch&Sip®?
The benefits of the ’Sip’:
Children often don't drink enough water, and can forget to unless reminded; Crunch&Sip® encourages
children to drink water throughout the day.
Headaches and irritability often result from not drinking sufficient water, which decreases children’s ability to
concentrate in class.
Crunch&Sip® is an Action Schools BC idea, originally initiated in Western Australia where more than 1/3 of
WA schools participate. For more information, visit http://www.crunchandsip.com.au
