Seattle Waterfront Development Project
This group project began with an idea to reconnect downtown Seattle with its waterfront. The imposing and wall-like interstate was hypothetically removed and its footprint was ours to use as we saw fit. Our groups idea was to place nodes, or “buttons” that would fasten the city together and reconnect the residents to the Puget Sound. Places like an enlarged aquarium and new multi-use live/work spaces were strategically placed along the waterfront to help integrate Seattle’s waterfront back into the fabric of Seattle.

Plantasy:We were given the task to design a plant that would solve a problem. My plant helped desert communities with their tumbleweed problem. The plant was engineered to provide tentacle-like growths that would catch tumbleweeds blowing in wind storms. The plant also boasted edible fruits and nuts and took drought tolerant traits of cacti to ensure its prolonged life in the harsh desert climate.
The Grounds of Pemberley:After reading a passage of Pride & Prejudice describing the home of the main character, we were given the task of designing a landscape based on our own writing that was written in the style of Jane Austin.

After a field trip to Portland & Seattle to learn about Low Impact Developments and L.E.E.D. regulations, our studio was given the task of designing a Low Impact Development on Bainbridge Island. The goal was to provide a balance of recreation, education and sustainability in our development. Repurposing used shipping containers as housing and implementing sustainable infrastructure such as permeable concrete, on-site natural water filtration, etc. This project had very little impact on the delicate ecosystem it was placed in.

The Harvest Moon Garden is an abstraction of the Harvest Moon and its color palette. The garden educates visitors on the Moon and the natural cycle of time. The garden’s inspiration is the city of Moonville, Indiana. From there it was abstracted into an inviting place to celebrate the importance of the Moon. Learning centers located around the garden educate children and adults alike. The color pallette of the garden focuses on the colors of the Harvest Moon. Vibrant shades of orange and yellow make up most of the landscape and are accompanied by many shade trees that represent the full shape taken by the Harvest Moon. The landscape takes on a different character every season as the leaves change as flowers bloom making this a living breathing garden.

Merry Lea:This group project included creating nature walks connecting interesting areas of The Merry Lea Nature Preserve in Goshen, Indiana. Our group also implemented green and sustainable technologies into the plan to further improve the L.E.E.D. rating that the Preserve already possessed.

30th Street Neighborhood, Indianapolis:The concept for the Indianapolis neighborhood around 30th Street was designed with a focus on Low Impact Development, Public Transport and redevelopment of the business core. My focus of the project dealt with access to public transport and business redevelopment. A new multi-modal transport hub was designed to be a catalyst and hub for future development of the area.

CAP Garden Living machine
CAP Garden Living machine
This project began with the idea of creating a space within the College of Architecture & Planning at Ball
State University. My concept involved creating a Living Machine that was visually interactive.
As the water worked its way through the bio filters and meandered around
the building, it would change levels and become its own
machine.

Final year thesis supporting graphics
My fifth year final thesis took on the challenge of sustainably renovating a dated golf course in Muncie, Indiana that had
fallen prey to the “Augusta Syndrome”. The goal was to create a more interesting and challenging golf course while
improving the environment surrounding the course and creating a model on which other courses and universities
could implement into their curriculum and course management.
