I am delighted to share with you that we have entered
2018 with great positivity and many exciting milestones.
In the past quarter, we have increased our market share
in Pakistan operations (Pharma and CH both) as per the
IMS data, CCL stands at number 19 in terms of market
share. However, we could not hit the target as our
revenue growth in both Pakistan and international
operations remained at 11%. In line with our growth
strategy of Fast Track Innovation, we launched ERA+
and Chatooli candy in the last quarter.
Strongly pursuing our growth strategy pillar of building
Vietnam operations, I am pleased to share with you that
AMVI has been registered as a site in Cambodia enabling
us to export our products from there. With a new General
Manager in Vietnam, we hope it will gain greater
momentum. Another good news is that CCL has
occupied the 5th number in terms of market share in Sri
Lanka.
We experienced some supply chain order losses recently
and in order to address them we recently upgraded our
solid oral production facilities at CCL's Lahore plant. We
hope that with this upgradation and with a dedicated
supply chain director in our team, we can address these
challenges in future. The new area not only has
increased our capacity by almost 80% but has further
enhanced our good manufacturing facilities (GMP)
compliance level.
Dear colleaguesHappy New Year!
The highlight of the past quarter has been the fact that
we were a proud recipient of the Special Merit Export
Award at the 41st Federation of Pakistan Chambers of
Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Export Award
ceremony held in Karachi during December 2017. FPCCI
export awards are considered highly prestigious at home
and abroad and the recipients of FPCCI awards enjoy an
exalted position in international markets and are
recognized as high profile exporters of Pakistan.
Another highlight of the quarter was the re-launch of Our
Values. Core values are what support the vision, shape
the culture and reflect what a company values. In the
past ten years, our company has transformed from local
to a global one, it's an evolutionary process and so it is
with our Values too.
I thank you for your great support and wish you and your
families a happy and healthy 2018.
Warm Regards
Kashif

VALUES ARE OUR
SUCCESS
MANTRA Says Kashif
New set of Values launched by CCL's HR function.
“In the journey of a good company
to becoming a great company we
have to be very clear and sold on our
values and cultural practices,” he
advised.
The first value, Passion for Growth,
was presented by Shoaib Ahmed,
CHRO, CCL Pharmaceuticals. “It is
our collective responsibility to ensure
that the company's business
objectives are communicated to all
employees. Every one of us MUST be
aware of our business objectives and
targets and how our targets link up
with those of the company's,”
remarked Shoaib.
The second value, Innovation to
Excel, was presented by Muhammad
Akram, Director of Marketing and
Sales, CCL Pharmaceuticals. “We
strive for valuable solutions that are
driven by innovation. We encourage
employees to learn to embrace
failure while taking business risks in
the pursuit of innovation excellence,”
remarked Akram.
The third value, Collaborate to Win,
was presented by Dr. Shahzad Khan,
Chief Operating Officer, CCL
Pharmaceuticals. “We believe in
teamwork, value creation and fun
environment,” he said. With the help
Shoaib Ahmed, Chief Human
SResource Officer (CHRO), CCL
Pharmaceuticals, welcomed
the audience to the first session of
the values relaunch event held at the
Finished Goods Warehouse at CCL's
Head Office in Lahore. The event was
attended by over 50 senior
managers of the company in a
colorfully branded venue which
reflected the four different colors of
the revised values.
“Core values are what support the
vision, shape the culture and reflect
what a company values. They should
pass the 3-door test of being the
essence of the company's identity –
the principles, beliefs or philosophy
of values,” remarked Kashif Sajjad
Shiekh, Managing Director of CCL.
“In the past ten years, our company
has transformed from local to a
global one, it's an evolutionary
process and so it is with our Values
too. We compared our existing
Values with those of many other
organizations. The sifting of this
research resulted in a few sets of
values which were presented to the
Management Committee, who then
spent time debating each value to
come up with the final list,” added
Kashif.
of many examples he highlighted
how we are empowered leaders who
are inspired by new challenges and
have a bias for collective action.
The fourth value, Integrity First, was
presented by Umer Saleem, Director
of Supply Chain and Manufacturing,
CCL Pharmaceuticals. “We are
honest, transparent and always think
of integrity first. We must ensure that
our appearance and courteous
behavior reflect the image of the
company and our pride in it, he
added.
Later Shoaib Ahmed presented a
plan of how the new values are going
to be integrated into the
organizational culture and practices.
“Each Monday, departmental
meetings will begin with an internal
Values Meeting, where one of the
colleagues will talk about a value and
how these can be lived. Similarly,
each Management Committee
meeting will start with Values for the
next few months. We are also
renaming our monthly employee
award to our Values Award (VIP).
Values card will be launched for
immediate recognition of colleagues
and going forward we will integrate
our Values in HR processes, such as
performance management and
trainings,” he added.

until they reached Islamabad.
A team activity was organized at Saidpur Village, which
was won by the Collaboration Team. The day also
included an exciting episode of hiking on trail 3, and the
adventure culminated at the scrumptious dinner at the
scenic Monal restaurant. Monal is situated in the
picturesque hills of Margalla and the group members
loved the food and admired the scenic views of the valleys
underneath.
The restaurant pretty much fit the hype that has been
around about it for years. Breathtaking drive along the Pir
Sohawa, the place was right in middle of the Margalla
Hills, with stunning view of the entire Islamabad city.
Monal was indeed one of the best dine-in choices by the
club members, not so much because of their food, but
because of the awesome and scenic location.
Exhausted yet exalted the happy tourists reached Lahore
in the wee hours of Sunday after gleaning life-long,
cheerful memories.

Aisha, a 17-year old resident of Dharam Pura stepped in
the DHF Clinic on a crisp autumn morning. She was as
pale and as white as a ghost, completely emaciated. She
was so weak and lethargic that she could hardly walk
and became breathless while talking.
The doctor took a detailed history and found out that she
had a habit of eating clay and parts of bricks from her
house. She had severe anemia and severe iron
deficiency, her hemoglobin was only 4 mg/dl (normal 12-
14 mg/dl).
DHF doctors started treating her instantly and she was
given dietary counselling and put on rigorous iron and
AISHA TURNS A NEW LEAFfolic acid treatment. She was very happy that she felt so
much better in a short time.
She would come after every three days and took her
medicines regularly. The doctors noticed the difference in
a few weeks, and her pale physical appearance began to
transform into pinkness of her health. Her hemoglobin
analysis was repeated after two months and it had come
to 10 mg/dl: A remarkable recovery indeed.
She and her widowed mother are very grateful to Dilawar
Hussain Foundation for her timely treatment and rapid
recovery.

Q1: How do you summarize your career with CCL?
I have been associated with CCL since July 2010. My career with CCL has remained
amazing. I am the part of CCL team that led it to become the second largest exporter from
Pakistan and a regional multi national through the acquisition of
AMVI Vietnam.
Q2: One key learning in your career?
Say yes to new learning in the shape of additional work and
new opportunities and successes will follow. This is pivotal to
developing your business acumen as well.
Q3: Your mantra to success?
Always work on your circle of influence. This is the circle under
our control and things usually don't go according to our plan.
But if we deliver our part, in the best manner we can,
then chances are that things out of our control will
fall into their place and results will be nothing less
than outstanding.
Q4: Any key message to the readers?
Life is a test. Almighty has said this but He also
says that we will face only those challenges for
which we have the capacity to handle. Actually
they are blessings because, while we try and
learn to overcome them, not only we gain
valuable experiences but also know who we
actually are and capable of. The best thing is
that one challenge won't go away till it imparts
the learning and has made us stronger to
handle the next one. So embrace challenges
as part of life, don't sweat so much over
them, but work towards overcoming instead
of avoiding them.
