BCM PROGRAM TRENDS: WHAT ARE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS DOING RIGHT?More than ever business continuity professionals want to know how the most mature programs are approaching business continuity planning. What are these organizations doing different from the rest? How are they achieving the visibility within the organization? How are they obtaining the necessary executive support? This session will assess the differentiating factors between the “Very Immature” programs and the “Very Mature” programs.

ROBERT BEGGS, CISSPPresident, Digital Defence

CHEYENE MARLING, Hon, MBCIExecutive Vice President, Firestorm

DAVID PHILLIPS, SENIOR CLIMATOLOGISTEnvironment and Climate Change Canada

TOMORROW’S WEATHER FORECAST: WARMER, WETTER AND WILDERIf you think we’ve been cursed and getting clobbered a lot harder and a lot more often recently you are not imagining it. It used to be that weather was dependable - summers were hot and humid and winters cold and snowy. Coping with more variable and extreme weather will take more ingenuity and adaptability where communities, agencies and businesses need to mainstream extreme weather considerations into their existing programs and policies and future strategies and planning.

WORKSHOPSPre and Post Conference workshops available – extra fee required

TUESDAY MAY 29 BUSINESS IMPACT ANALYSIS - BIA 100 $500

During the activities of this professional practice, the entity identifies the likely and potential impacts from events on the entity or its processes and the criteria that will be used to quantify and qualify such impacts. The criteria to measure and assess the financial, operational, customer, regulatory and/or reputational impacts must be defined, accepted and then used consistently throughout the entity to define the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) for each of the entity’s processes. The result of this analysis is to identify time sensitive processes and the requirements to recover them in the timeframe that is acceptable to the entity.

A GUIDED TOUR OF THE BCI’S 2018 GOOD PRACTICE GUIDELINES $350

This will be an interactive workshop, aimed at all experience levels, designed to explore the latest trends in leading business continuity practices.

THURSDAY MAY 31

BUSINESS CONTINUITY AWARENESS - BCA 100 $500

A fast-paced lecture style session that provides a high-level overview of contemporary methodology and best practices used to implement a comprehensive business continuity program. This session is beneficial for employees who have an indirect or ancillary role in the development and maintenance of business continuity plans. DRI CANADA Instructors can make limited modifications to the session to assist in private or public-sector organization which makes it an ideal in-house course.

PREPARING YOUR ORGANIZATION TO MEET TODAY’S CHALLENGES IN RISK MANAGEMENT, BUSINESS CONTINUITY AND PROGRAM VALIDATION $380

There are unlimited ways to alter the risk exposure that an organization has, but all involve decision making and an understanding of the consequences of the decision to act on a risk issue. Key decision makers must maintain risk within acceptable limits and ensure the continuity of business operations.

INTEGRATION OF ICS INTO RESUMPTION PLANS WORKSHOP $245

The use of Incident Command System is well documented throughout the world of First Responders in North America. It is the defacto standard because it works. Standardizing our resumption plans to threats such as white powder, active shooter, etc with the response of those who will eventually command the event just makes sense.

MONITORING SOCIAL MEDIA IN REAL TIME FOR SITUATIONAL AWARENESS

The Future is Now: Social Media in Real Time is spawning revolutions, influencing elections and spreading truth and misinformation to millions of people instantly. This is for anyone who is concerned with the use of information before, during and after a crisis. The concept of “Non-Linear Hybrid Warfare” means that the future holds threats from an array of actors from nation-states to lone wolves. This presentation will better prepare you to find and counter those threats.
