Dear Friends,
Fr. Peter and our staff and I wish you and your family a blessed New Year of 2019! May each of us have the support from family and
friends that we need, and may we be a support to those around us. We rely on the life-
changing support from the Lord Jesus, Who has truly been born into our world and
remains close to us. He has come to save every person from every nation and place, as represented by the Wise Men who came from
distant lands to worship the Child Jesus on this Feast of the Epiphany.
Friends, may you and I take the time to make
New Year's resolutions to grow in our faith. What concrete change can I make in
my life to open myself to the Lord's graces that He wants to give me? Perhaps, 5 minutes of prayer in the morning and evening; daily
reading from the Gospel; coming early and/or staying afterward at Mass to give thanks;
volunteering a little time to serve someone in need. Jesus came "to serve, not to be served" -
may we re-discover the joy of following Him. Father Paul

Are you an adult who was baptized in a non-Catholic Christian community and would be interested in entering into full communion with the Catholic Church?
Are you an adult who was baptized in the Catholic Church as a child, never received further faith formation, and would like to pursue reception of the sacraments beyond baptism?
Are you an adult who did not complete your Religious Education and would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation?
If any of these descriptions applies to you, please consider your possible participation in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults – RCIA. Please feel free to pass this notice on to a family member or friend.

St. Francis of Assisi Dining Hall Light refreshments will be served
Please join us for the first (of hopefully many!) Collaborative Book Club meeting.
On the fourth Sunday of Advent (December 22 &23), at all our Masses, we gave parishioners a gift from the Collaborative:
the book “The Biggest Lie in the History of Christianity”
by Matthew Kelly, author and founder of Dynamic Catholic.
At our Book Club Meeting, we look forward to engaging in lively discussion, sharing of our individual
faith journey and fellowship as we explore the insights gained from the book.
“Do you believe it’s possible to be happier than you have ever been? Not for fleeting moments, but consistently? Bestselling author Matthew Kelly believes it is possible—and in his latest book, The Biggest
Lie in the History of Christianity, he explains how. Get the practical tools necessary to dispel the false
promises the modern culture feeds you, and discover the single truth that is the key to regaining your
fervor, bringing Christian unity, and leaving your mark on the world—and experiencing more happiness than you thought possible. This is a must-read for every Catholic in America.”

Box Tops for Education is a way for St. Joseph's school to raise money. Box Tops can be found on products you buy in the grocery store Simply by clipping the Box Tops and putting them in the Box Top box at the back of the church, the school will raise money. Each Box Top gives the school 10 cents. These can add up quickly! Start clipping today and support our parish school!
The sixth graders used the lab to learn about the cell structure of an onion. Having observed the onion cell under the microscope, they learned the differences between
animal and plant cells, in addition to the function of the different parts of the cell.
